Ordering Sky - living in apartment

Just tried to order Sky (TV, broadband, Talk) online but because I live in an apartment more than 2 floors up I have to call them

I wanted to do it online to get £10 plus also £50 for doing to via Quidco

Tell them that! Seems a bit out of order.

I ordered my BT line and as it was a new postcode i couldn't order online. I had to ring them and they gave me it at the online price

Re: Ordering Sky - living in apartment

It's probably going to be something to do with the easements for the telco line through common parts (ntl:telewest also have these issues), so they will want to make sure you are serviceable. Equally the TV also can have issues. Many blocks have communal aerial systems, so they'd need to check compatibility with those if they are around. Blocks that don't have common aerials may still have restrictions, planning, or simply leasehold, on dish locations. Sky would want to know you can comply with all that, and a web order may not be the easiest way of checking that compliance.

I'm gonna go with Talk Talk as its only £19.99 with phone and 'up to' 8 meg (this includes the phone line rental). I've got a freeview box so i'm not worried about TV.

I was also told the same myth by the developers, BT told me they do have to send an engineer out to survey the work done by the developers so you have to pay anyway

Re: Ordering Sky - living in apartment

that sounds like a good deal.

I was going to get freeview but I watch stuff which is only on Sky such as 24.

Sky TV will be £15, broadband is £5 and then phone from BT is £11.

Remember with ADSL that upto 8Mb - depending on your distance from the exchange. Although in central town the maximum I could get would be 2Mb.
