Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Also wont this mean that the ridiculously high transfer fees and players wages will grow even more because clubs will have more money to spend? It will also be very difficult for Championship sides to get promoted unless they were relegated from the Premiership the season before as those relegated teams will have more money to spend on players and will be able to keep their better players because of the extra money they are getting for being relegated. This is not a good thing in my opinion.

JOHNSON TOILET SCAM FOILED
An England footballer has been given an on-the-spot fine for stealing bathroom fittings.
England defender Glen Johnson, who plays for Portsmouth on loan from Chelsea, and Millwall striker Ben May were caught at B&Q in Dartford, Kent, on Wednesday.
The pair were spotted by a security guard putting a toilet seat into a box with a cheaper price tag before they reached the checkout, The Sun reported.
They also avoided paying for a set of taps by concealing them underneath a sink at the checkout, the newspaper said.
A worker at the store told The Sun: "We all recognised Johnson. No one could quite believe a bloke like him, with all that money, would be moronic enough to nick a toilet seat. But that's what him and May were doing.
"They were spotted by one of our security guards, a chap of 74, and cops arrived as they were trying to leave.
"They seemed to find the whole thing funny and couldn't stop smirking even after they had been arrested."

Perhaps he took the toilet seat because his form is Sh*t
well that's his career down the pan (If he can fit the toilet seat on it)
probably told the cops to bog off

Gavin will be pleased.......

Tottenham's next Uefa Cup opponents Feyenoord have been excluded from this season's competition.
Uefa has banished the Dutch club after the crowd trouble at French side Nancy on 30 November. Uefa are expected to confirm next week whether Spurs will get a bye, which appears the most plausible option.

It would prove haow much he wanted to play for you guy's, as he'd lose out on well over a million pounds if he did that

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Hargreaves isn't a 20 million pound player
Bayern only said that to put off potential buyers but when there a english football club willing to spend that much money well what can you do
You would think we would learn by now that when english clubs get involved transfer fees go up by 66%

Hmmm - as the best player we had at the world cup (and yes, I am aware that was 7 months ago), and taking into account the fact that United paid 18 million for Carrick, I'd say that Hargreaves is well worth 20 million. Anyway, you'll probably find that it's not English clubs that result in price rises - it's Chelsea in particular who have distorted the transfer market

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
the transfer fee increase that comes with English clubs getting involved didn't start with Chelsea now Chelsea have made the situation worse just as common sense was starting to come back to transfer fees but it did not start with them
and foreign clubs take advantage of it getting English Clubs to pay over the odds for players and then doing to exact opposite when they want players
Rudd Van Nisteroy is the perfect example of this man utd paid 28 million for him i think and man utd got half or perhaps not even that
they should have at least got their money back for him

What piffle - van Nistelrooy left Man U as another player who Fergie fell out with (or, more accurately, who fell out with Fergie). As a result, he was sold at a cheaper price to get rid of him (and, as it turns out, Man U don't appear to be missing him, do they?). Fergie's not bad at recognising when to get of players, even if they make a loss.
Anyway, if English clubs are responsible for inflated price rises, can you please explain why Beckham's just got a £128 million pound contract, or why Man U have got Larsson on loan?

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
I stand corrected on the amount they paid for him but going by previous posts does everybody have this opinion about Andriy Shevchenko
so who was it man utd paid for 28 million for as the answer eludes me at the moment
