virgin.net is **** DONT SIGN UP TO THEM

Dont ever use virgin.net (part of NTL). its the worst **** ever

their illegal and fraudulent business practices are shocking.
They lie about compatability just to get you to become a customer and then start stealing money from your credit card/bank account. They obstruct your attempts to leave, saying they have no record of you ever calling to cancel, and ask YOU to prove that you cancelled.

They make you call high rate premium numbers to cancel services and keep you on hold for 45 minutes, and say if you dont call the specific high rate number then you wont be able to cancel. THey lie about supporting AppleMac, (they DONT support intel based macs).

Admin edit (Stuart): Please do not post personal abuse

Its impossible to even take them to OFCOM or OTELO as they refuse to provide a deadlock letter so you can refer to OTELO after 12 weeks of bull**** fighting with them to stop your service.

The organisation known as ISPA, internet service providers association has a website where you can take your complaints to and they should look into it. Also your local councils trading standards can get involved, and its worth making an official complain to OFCOM. OFCOM doesn't get involoved in individual complaints but they will log them for stats and keep a track of them.
Lastly, Virgin is registered at companies house as owned by NTL and head quaters are in Hook, hampshire. Always worth calling them up and asking for the directors office and high level complaints who can help you to sort stuff out if you are lucky.

Virgin net has a secret london office where their execs are, 160 Great Portland st, (near marylebone rd). Their tel is 020 7299 6060 so call them up and complain to them also.

Cant see how that stops you using one though? its most likely thats there no drivers for the USB modems for intel macs and considering most of them are discontinuned in favor of routers/wireless routers they probably won't release a driver for them.

Would probably work under windows on an intel mac or just use a Adsl router or a modem with an ethernet port, simple.
