my ntl with xbox live

need help guys im new to all this just wondered if anyone can help me with my problem ive got haha

i am with ntl broadband 4 mb i have the modem in my room and a tv box i have the computer usin the modem and i want my xbox to connect via the ethernet on the back of the tv set. but wen i connect them both it connects to the pc. but my xbox just tells me its wired but cant find the ip.

do i have to configure it in some way i rang ntl and they said that ethernet at the back of the tv box should be active i just need to set the xbox up.

i rang the xbox people but they were as thick as me so ive come to the pro's

would be grateful with your help , thanks

If your broadband is being supplied by a cable modem, then you must connect your xbox to that cable modem. The ethernet port on the STB will not be activated unless you are one of the decreasing numbers of customers who get broadband via the STB, iin conjunction with a digital TV subscription.

I'd suggest you acquire a router, place that between the modem and the computer / xbox. That way you can use both simultaneously.

so it wont be active at the back.

i was thinkin of getting a router yesterday but i thought it would slow my downloads down
