Re: What sort of Cable?

Can I just confirm as someone with over 10 years of experience and who is driven to distraction by people using the wrong type of cabling…

To ensure compatibility with ntl: Telewest in the London area (although strictly speaking UK wide), cabling within the house should be either white unflooded RG-6 or RG-59.
ntl: Telewest use Commscope as their supplier, I suggest you do too. Also try not to bend the cable too tightly or kinks will appear and render the cable useless.

Often the Installer or Service Technician will walk away when they see non-standard cable types.
The main reason is that the Standard F Connectors used in the cable network do not crimp on to CT100 etc. correctly without using parts of 2 different connectors so you get a lot of signal loss and consequently introduce noise back into the cable network which will not provide you (or your neighbours) with a very nice broadband experience (especially if the cable is unshielded).

In conclusion, to save yourself days of waiting at home for Installers and Service Techs to walk out of your door, NEVER use CT100 or CT125 for Cable TV connection, It’s fine for terrestrial or satellite but just not cable.
