tvdrive/my tv

Hello to everyone,
Our first posting to any forum. My wife wants tvdrive as it best suits our lifestyle. We have telewest digital into one box and wish to change. Our TV is rental from Box Clever and is HD-Ready. Our main reason for change is for the recording facilities and the HD is an added bonus but not essential.
We understand that the Telewest HD connection is HDMi and our TV is DVi.
Can someone tell us if this is a major problem and what we have to do?

Please , no high techy replies as we are both aged 55.
I drive a Black Hackney Cab and the other half runs a call centre for credit checks.
Thanks

Re: tvdrive/my tv

They are both digital connections, so you could use either an HDMI to DVI adaptor or HDMI to DVI cable.

Something like this;

Can probably find cheaper ones, the link is just the first one I found on a search.

Slight problem though - DVI doesn't carry sound..

You're going to need some other way to carry sound to the TV. Does the TV have phono sound inputs? (I would imagine it would) If so, you'll need a phono to phono connector as well. Cables like these would do the trick. Alternativley, if you have a surround amp, you could use the optical connectors instead

Re: tvdrive/my tv

The TV has a single round DVI AUDIO IN socket next to the DVI IN socket.
What type of cable do I need and where does it connect to on TVDrive?

My surround system does have an optical socket.

The best way is to buy some HomeCinema Kit or amplituner with optical input socket, then you can connect your TVdrive to the HM.
