accessing mail through my phone. Help

Hi I've got my phone set up to download mail via IMAP but I can't seem to send anything. Does anyone know if I should be using smpt.ntlworld.com or something.
Phone is a K800i.

Or is it simply that you are not able to send mail from phone only to read.
I can access webmail via the phone. But would like to do via the phones email account setting as I find that easier. (Well I would if it worked)

Cheers.

You can't use smtp.ntlworld.com, you will need to use your airtime account mail servers. You can only use smtp.ntlworld.com when you have an ntl IP address assigned to the device seding the mail.

Re: accessing mail through my phone. Help

to download your mail the ntl server is pop.ntlworld.com But as Toto says to send email you need to do that throught the phone provider's mail server. If you are really clever though you may be able to fiddle with the email settings so that anything you send shows a reply to address of your ntl stuff rather than your phone's email account.

Yes it will....but the SMTP headers will show the sending network as your phone company.

Quite right. But then I don't look at the headers much. Nor do the people I send too. I admit I use the phone email very rarely. Only when I'm out and about and no access to a computer for webmail.

Re: accessing mail through my phone. Help

sorted went to Sony Ericsson site and you can download settings from there. Only thing I did that was change from pop3 to IMAP manually afterwards as I only want to download messages to PC. Just want phone to see what's in there.

Also weird thing is it sends out using smtp.t-email.co.uk instead of the ntlworld smtp but still shows up as being from my email address. So I'm happy.

Hopefully someone with the same problem as me will come across this thread and it will help them.
