I suppose the favourite would be Torres according to our beloved press, and I wouldn't be surprised if Hargreaves makes the move from Bayern Munich to United in January either, but we need a proven goal scorer imo.
I think Hargreaves could be surplus to requirements though, unless a few current players go in the opposite direction, i.e. O'Shea, Richardson, Fletcher, but I don't think he would get much money for those three.

i've been saying for ages we have a weak squad.. if Saha and Rooney don't do it in a match then we can we bring on .. O'Shea i'm sure Chelsea were scared when they saw him come on
still seems strange we are after Hargreaves after getting Carrick and with the midfield resources we have
we need a striker as Ole is too old and Rossi is unproven and Fergie doesn't want to play him at this level himself
Richardson and Park just aren't up to it and Ronaldo still isn't the finished article yet

You need Hargreaves, otherwise you'll be in the same situation as you are up front, no one good enough to bring on or fill in due to injuries and Scholes isn't getting any younger.
The real problem United have got is, that they can't afford to make any mistakes in the transfer market, that's why I think they didn't bid for Tevez, if they bought someone like Veron today it would be a real disaster, hand the title to Chelsea and probably cost Fergie his job

This is exactly what football needs, when players step out of line, it's all to easy for them to just write a cheque, they need more punishments that hurt!

Apologies for getting stuck into you about it. You have to understand though that its rare to meet a proper Man U fan.

You'll actually find a lot, if you get rid of your anyonebut attitude

Can somebody update me on the proper fan requirements?
Do you have to go to every home game? What about away games? Reserve Games? Surely you can't be a proper fan if you don't go to U-18 games home and away!

How about some one who supports their team through thick and thin regardless of going to every game, when I was at school in East London there were just as many Liverpool fans as there were fans for London based clubs, I believe these sorts are referred to by your club as the 'prawn sandwich brigade'

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Yeah it's funny how many people became Liverpool fans in the 80s. Wonder what the attraction was? I grew up in the 80s, 90% of my friends supported Liverpool.

Well..........not quite. The "supporters" you identify are predominantly "glory hunters" the "prawn sandwich brigade" are corporate supporters. Who are killing the atmosphere's in grounds these days. There was a time, when corporate "fans" were in and around the directors box, or tucked up nicely in a corporate box, while being waited on hand and foot. Now they're all over the grounds, in pockets, but you can always tell who they are.
Strange how you mention Liverpool, they are the people now who try and level the "out of town" supporters at Man U. And yet they have been doing it for decades, double standards me thinks.

Yes you are right about the prawn sandwich brigade, although where as your fair weather fan will support who ever is winning titles, they will support which ever sport is fashionable and when the love affair is over, the clubs will expect the traditional supporter to return and they will.

True enough.
I think clubs play a very dangerous game though, arrogantly thinking fans will return when the fair weather gang buggers off. Sadly though, they usually do return. It's up to supporters to draw the line though, clubs will soon take notice when it hits their pocket. I wonder how the Glazier's would cope, if Man U's fortunes on the pitch changed dramatically. When all the corporate, and fair weather fans sod off to the next dominant team. And end up with gaps in the crowd, where everyone has left, and now support FC United.

As it should be, well perhaps with just one club , I have already started indoctrinating my son, we live in Bedfordshire now and he is the only one at his football club who wears a shirt different to Arsenal or Man Utd, I am just waiting for the day when the ungrateful little blighter comes home and say's he supports one of them, he'll feel my wrath on that day

You follow who you want to follow, most people who dislike Man Utd are usually jealous because of a superior history of success, but as you know (and they do not seem to realise) it has not always been that way.
United were relegated to the then 2nd division of the football league in 1974, but the club sustained good attendances during the following season, in fact I think it increased overall compared to previous seasons. (It must have been all those glory hunters )
But just let trolls wallow in their own mire.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
good win with an understrength side.. Eva is looking like a very good buy although Fergie needs to work out if he is going to be a LB or a replacement for Giggs as has been mentioned.. still needs a bit of work on the defending side
still not a fan of Richardson ok he can hit a dead ball ok but this isn't American football where you can bring someone on just for free kicks
the main difference between Sunday and yesterday was after we went 1-0 up we still had the ball in their half and put them under pressure so we won 3-0 instead of sitting back and letting the other team have all the ball. seems we always do this against top sides and in Europe and it always seems to cost us

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Im looking forward to Arsenal's season being well and truly over by the end of next week. I can see them being turned over by TOttenham at the Emirates, and out of Europe with defeat at the hands of Porto.
