Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Strange, mines slowly been crawling back up since about 7.
Still not 4mb but a bit closer, not good enough at all though if this is an ongoing problem.

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Righty ho, i just had a chat to a very nice man on the broadband medic live help...
After running some tests on my connection he basically said that it is a known issue and that they are working as fast as they can to resolve the connectivity problems.
Cant ask more than that i guess, gonna sit tight and hope they sort it quick.
Oh and apparently i do have a 2Mb connection, could have swore it was 1 but there ya go!

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Probably i guess its getting to the point where alot of people start phoning in, from what i understand from other posts, this problem has been around for about a week, im guessing most people will hold off on the phone calls for a while in the hopes that it will sort itself out, can be like that at times where you have a problem one day and the next its gone.
Anyways with a major small minority of NTL customers who frequent this forum making a big issue about it (and rightly so) i guess many many more will be calling/contacting NTL about these issues which put pressure on NTL to get it resolved.
Still running more tests, im getting max speed from London but half that from Derby, strange cos your test doesnt show that much difference.

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Without forums like this I'd be at a loss to know if it was a problem with my connection, a local or a national problem. Raises glass.
In my experience its always better to check here or DS before even thinking of contacting NTL.
Thanks for your info though man, lets see how it pans out.

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
what do york & Sneck get from the 'connection' link in the forum toolbar, above?
In Grimsby I get 'you do not appear to be using a proxy server', but as it 'usually' used to go through Nottingham, I'm just wondering if there might be a connection?
- course, if the UBR's may be getting full, like Nedkelly speculates, Lincoln is an University City, after all, then proxy hopping won't help

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
If the people post a trace root to the bbc we will see if the problem is with nottingham .Or use ping plotter and see where the lag is ie 2nd 3rd or 4th hop ? just a idea .we had a problem with Grimsby And Scunthorpe when some of the traffic went through a certain port in notts

I get the same homealone, says you appear to not be using a proxy, which is right im not, i did use one once (2 months ago) and it solved my web site woes but i couldnt connect to gaming servers etc so its pretty limited in its use for me personally, anyways that particular problem went away and all was sunny skies, green grass and birds singing again.
Your right about one thing tho, Lincoln is a university city and NTL know this, weve had the NTL trailer in front of morrisons, in the high street, in the university and thats just the places ive been!
Also with this problem appearing from 3pm onwards it does seem to point at congestion yet Lincoln is not the only place suffering.
Ill perform a traceroute to the bbc tomorrow and post my results, its too late to check now as my connection is back to normal, untill 3pm tomorrow that is.
