email account problem ????
Morning all, strange problem that I need some help with, last week one of my email accounts ( the main one ) stopped responding, I was first made aware of it via CF asking me to log in with another email addy well now I've had a play using various methods to try and log in, re-enter all info and I still can't log in, I can log into my other accounts ok, just not my main one, anyone got any ideas on how I can proceed ?
TIA

Re: email account problem ????
Is it an email address you actively use? If an email address is not logged into for several months it'll go inactive, in that case I think resetting the password through https://autoreg.autoregister.net/cgi-bin/chgpwd would help.

Yep, the email addy is / was actively used, it was my main addy for forum notifications on here and a few other sites, it was like it worked one minute and the next it didn't

Have you tried logging in using webmail?

PS, I do like your avatar. I used to have a little sticker thing that was just like that - it had oil or something in it and when your squeezed on it the colours changed.

Re: email account problem ????
Could be one of the mail storage servers is down and the other accounts are on a different server?

Re: email account problem ????
Is this the email address you set up when we where at Ragpath or the one you set-up at another address. When you moved did you close the account and set-up a new one or transfer the account over?

It's the same one that I've had for years and through various addresses, like I said, it worked one day and the next....... gone, I was made aware of it by CF telling me that I had to log in using a new email addy, further talks with Rob C said that any thread notifications were being 'bounced back' so thats why the forum software spat it's dummy out, but still I don't know why ??
I'm gonaa pm a certain mamber of the forum, they may be able to enlighten me, seeing as how they're on the inside
Keep the suggestions coming though

Re: email account problem ????
Don't feel alone in your troubles. 2 of our 3 email addresses at home haven't been working for the last 2 days. I wonder if they know the server's packed in.
Edit: Slow on the ole uptake, thought we were talking about ntl's email!

Re: email account problem ????
I had a similar thing happen, Bop, in my case the addy was my original dialup account, which had previously been paid by a rolling credit card agreement. When I got broadband I changed it to PAYG, but apparently there was an outstanding payment showing due on the system & they kept trying to get it from my card, with no joy. (although they didn't actually tell me there was a problem!!)
Eventually they cancelled the account (so I lost the addy).
Originally I assumed it was because I'd not logged in to the account for a while, except for email. It wasn't any great loss, tbh, as it was the one which attracted all the spam....

Re: email account problem ????
If its the one set-up when I had bb in at Ragpath lane then it will have probably expired.
Can you not use your domain. I just checked it and it does not expire till next year. Dunno where its registered through though.
