Re: Linksys WRT54G Router Security issue?

Is it your network? Have you renamed the SSID to something personal rather than like "Linksys" which it is at by default?

Have you tried any of the ipconfig stuff?

Everything is working..but I still am getting an unsecured Network coming up without a padlock on....Any suggestions...There are 2 further networks showing in my area..both have a padlock against them. Don't know what to do now.?

Chrisann...

Have a look in the linksys router manual and perform a hard reset of the router to restore it to the default condition.

Make sure you lanuch IEexplorer and go to tools/options and clear the browser cache.

ok then go to start,run

when you get the command line type cmd ENTER

you should now have a black dos window propably with a C:\ type line

now type ipconfig ENTER
you will get some data back hopefully. Look for the line which says default gateway and write it down. Go to your web browser and type this line in,forget about http or www,it isnt needed here just enter the numbers and hit enter.

Hopefully you should be looking at the linksys router setup screen

Ditch the NTL setup cd,it isnt needed. You should have a connection as soon as you make the physical connections.
