I'm in Withington and for the past 3-4 weeks, we been gettin really slow speed about 1-2mb but i have a 10mb connection. Checked the cfg file for the cable modem and it's been upgraded to the 20mb so it shouldn't be this slow Is anyone else having the same problems

South Manchester too, very poor here and on 20mb as well.

Done a speed test off peak in the early hours and can't get above 2mb then either.

Same thing with my 2 Mb connection. Very slow http compared to the usual and there has been problems for the last month or so between my cable modem rebooting randomly, slow browsing and online gaming has been impossible due to high ping. I'll be phoning CS later today as at this rate I'll be looking for another ISP if it goes on much longer.

Re: Speed issue in South Manchester

I am in Preston and have experienced very slow speeds for over a week now along with many other people here.
I called suport about this last monday night and given a ticket number posted a message in the BY support group last night and was told the matter had been resolved and ticket closed .
I have been getting speeds of between 50 and 90 Kb/sec all night tonight until just now when all returned to normal . I called support earlier on gave the ticket number and the guy told me not to expect any improvment until thev13th of the month, so did the support guy who answewred my question in the news group lie last evening when he said problem fixed or what !!!!.

Re: Speed issue in South Manchester

Our internet is still clown shoes tonight. I have rebooted the modem and router several times over last night and tonight. Maximum speed available downloading items from ftp or http is 32kb/s. It spikes upto about 150kb/s (maximum) and then drops back down to ~32kb/s again. I'll do a speed test once I've kicked the kids off MSN on their machine...

edit: OK, speed test is as follows:

Wed, 15 Nov 2006 20:54:42 UTC

1st 512K took 1079 ms = 474.5 KB/sec, approx 3910 Kbps, 3.82 Mbps
2nd 512K took 1078 ms = 475 KB/sec, approx 3914 Kbps, 3.82 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1093 ms = 468.4 KB/sec, approx 3860 Kbps, 3.77 Mbps
4th 512K took 1079 ms = 474.5 KB/sec, approx 3910 Kbps, 3.82 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 3899 Kbps, 3.81 Mbps

I ran it about 5 times in all, always coming up with similar speeds.
