Question USB query

Hey all

Apologies if this question annoys anyone but I did do a quick search for USB in this area and couldn't find anything. Anyhow onto the main point: I have noticed a USB port on the back of my TVD and wondered what it could be used for? I am not looking to break any laws or anything because in all fairness whenever I have had a problem with Telewest, they take care of it and quickly, but did wonder that as a customer is there anything that I can do to take advantage of that port?? I understand that the ethernet port can be used to get broadband access (I think that is right), is the USB port for the same thing? Or can you access portable hard drives through the TVD? Basically if anyone can clear this up for me then I would be grateful. Also if as a customer are I am not to use the port then please let me know so that I don't go exploring the possibilities if I am bored one day.

ThHanks for your time

Re: USB query

Neither the USB or Ethernet ports on the TV drive are enabled for use by the customer. The box itself is generic and supplied to a number of cable providers who then configure it for their own networks.

Re: USB query

Thanks Rob.
In that case I won't bother playing around with the box then.

Cheers

Re: USB query

I use the USB port for powering a Laptop cooling fan to keep the TVDrive cool. It has very low power consumption (3 Fans; Voltage, DC5V: Power, 1.5W max: Current, 0.1Amp per fan)
Some users plug in USB lights as well.
As far as i've found out by reading posts, etc, is that unfortuneatly you cant plug an external Hard Drive in to make Archiving and backing up.
