TBH, if you've got power in the workshop you might be better off looking at homeplug networking for this PC.

I'll second that! This Hull-based distributor (http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline.htm) have a good range and very good customer support. I use their products to connect my router to a server in my garage. Works like a charm!

Re: Advise of best wireless antenna

And if you have a WRT54G you can try custom firmware and boost the output power.

Druchii have you tried openWRT http://openwrt.org/ for the WRT54G ? Get linux onto your access point mate and set up a fake AP (I wonder why I'd want to do that

Re: Advise of best wireless antenna

Came across these where some users were claiming they got reception upto a mile from base.

Take a look at signal amplifiers also.

http://www.solwise.co.uk/wireless-outdoorantenna-24.htm

http://www.fab-corp.com/

But as with wireless being line microwave : Line of sight is the key and so of these users had installed the aerial on the roof
