Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
oh, I see. thank you The Daddy! but I'm sure when I was watching the U21's once I heard the commentators say that someone was 24?! hmm, I've seen the clips on sky this morning - there really was a huge divet, but why on earth didn't robinson have his eye on the ball rather than the pitch? he knew there were divets, and the ball wasn't heading for him that fast..

Can't you have three over 21s in the U-21s? Sounds odd, but I think this is the case, or was, or I've been drinking too much and hallucinated it.

why is there a rather injured looking Ashley Cole still hobbling around?

Cos the only defensive cover was Phil Neville (haha) and he got injured in the warm up?
Drop the lot, I say, and stick some Arsenal players in. That's what they're missing. Mind you, we'd have to play five-a-side and borrow a couple of players off the other lot.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Well, Scotland were dire last night, never got running and were well and truly humped by the Ukraine. The ref was a shambles and gave some really terrible decisions but the result was justified either way.
In some respects i'm glad as it brings us back to earth after the France game, but i hate it when we lose and play bad.
Seeing that England "own howler" go in though cheered me up no end - the whole pub started laughing.
Anyone got a youtube link?
Well done to the Welsh by the way, great result and an excellent performance, the Republic did not to bad either by all accounts.

I can't believe a Scot is actually trying to have a pop at a goalkeeper, have you forgotten some of the cloth handed incumbents of the Scottish goal down the years

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Who would have thought that after games against Spain, Denmark and Latvia we would have had 7 points out of 9.
Who would have thought 4 games in we would have had the same number of points as England.
How things have changed in Norn Iron football.
Euro 2008 here we come.

Why would playing Arsenal's reserve team be any better for?

BB King - but surely if Ashley Cole is so obviously injured, he should just hobble off anyway, because there is no point in making it worse.. *wonders if Jose has said anything yet*

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
well what a load of rubbish that was.. very dissapointed and feel sorry for the fans that went out there to watch it
it was clear after the first half that the system wasn't working and once again an England manager showed that he had no way to turn the game around.. even before they scored the system should have been changed
if we weren't so negative passing back all the time then maybe Gary Neville might have played the ball up the pitch and not back to the keeper
Watching Gerrard and Lampard and a few others they just don't put in the same effort for England as they do for their clubs

I think its cos they don't seem to train together much as a team? I've seen Lampard & Terry jogging around Fulham Broadway and the Royal Albert Hall

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
England, along with premiership teams, when they play in europe, play far too negative a brand of football. The English top division, was always more successful, when playing a fast paced game. Look at just how successful it was through the late 70's up to the mid 80's. European teams never liked it when they were pressed constantly. Why we adopt this style of negative, keep ball, simply because the rest of europe do, is a mystery. Hence the reason I find international, and european football, tediously boring. Give me the premiership any day, although even that is slowly heading towards a european style.
