And yes, windows work, funny that isn't it, seen as most manufacturers design products to work with it. I have nothing against windows Zingle, anyone woud think you're telling me to stick with it!

Try this one...
Check the forums, search for SATA problems & how they've been solved...
HINT: Look for 'Solved' in the thread title...

no dude not at all. But you were excited when you started this thread and now your not so pleased cuz linux dont work. Like you said people makes things that work with windows you have a powerful pc better than one you have ever owned so go back to being pleased with it cuz messing with linux (or dual booting which I cant do with xp64 due to problems) does not really matter.Play a good windows compliant fps or something and enjoy it

That puts a different (better) spin on things, cheers Zingle!
Thinking about it, this is by far the most powerful PC i've ever had, and thinking about it, i earnt every last penny's worth to build it... That gives me a nice feeling inside once more

Why didn't anyone tell me how seriously fast these chips were?
*is still awestruck*
I need faster RAM though, as this DS3 board has no downward Ram dividers...

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhsssssssttttttttta******
Nice one mate I was eye'in these chips up as soon as the benchmarks came out many moons back.
Mind you the E6600 was the best bang for buck when I was looking - correct me if I'm wrong I cant be arsed to g00gle for it now.
Lovely lovely chips leaving us old skool AMDers gob smacked. I'll prolly go for the upgrade next year we'll see what chipset quad core has a dependency on.
For the time being my Athlon XP-M is doing me fine thank gawd I didn't upgrade to the 64s did a lot of reading up and found the performance gain was just not good enough and hence no point for me.
The duos are in a new league altogether though so good on you.

Re: I think i'm gonna be motion sick...
My FX-55 is beginning to become a bottleneck for my 3D rendering. Sometimes it takes the mickey with how long it takes to render such a simple model (simple to me, but probably complicated to others ). Hopefully I'll be getting an FX-60 within a month so then this FX-55 can go into my server.

Re: I think i'm gonna be motion sick...
Ah, but if it's an upgrade to an existing system, then he's stuck with the socket type for the CPU, unless he changes motherboard too, adding to the cost.

Re: I think i'm gonna be motion sick...
thats why I asked if he was getting the cpu free. Because if the answer is no even second hand its worth more than a D805 and a mobo

Just been playing with this RAM and CPU, i'm upto 2.05Ghz, which, has knocked another 2 seconds off the SuperPi time. Although the RAM is reading back at 3-5-5-15... Which is obviously wrong.
