Terrestrial channels through cable
Hi
Does anyone know if the cable TV signal carries an RF feed to give the five basic terrestrial channels? If so, how do I get it into the TV? I have a Samsung 2110 box, on the back there are connectors for 'Ant in' and 'RF out'. Is it simply a case of connecting a coax lead from RF out into the back of the TV? Without connecting an aerial into the Ant in socket, as the external aerial terminates in another room and I don't really want to have a wire running across the floor.
Also, can someone explain what all the other connections on the back of the box are for?

The rf out on the samsung will only give you the output of the box.The rf in is for your arierial to plug into .

OK, so presumably the RF out is for people who don't have a scart connection on their TV? What are the other connections for then?

If you speak really nicely to the engineer when on a job to your house , he will fit you a 5 channel by-pass, which means ya can get those channels without the use of the cable box.

But would I still have to have an external aerial connected up, or does the cable signal include the five channels?

Re: Terrestrial channels through cable
Nah, No terrestial aerial required. It all comes through the cable box. Ie you would get 6 channels through the RF lead, the 5 terrestial channels plus the cable channel your box is tuned into. You will also need to retune your telly to find these channels as they are on diff frequencies to those down your terrestial Aerial.
Sorry just re-read my previous post, and I understand why you were confused. Just me I guess.
