STB died on me

I'm Hoping someone is still awake who's able to help me.

My STB is showing 8888 and the 3 LEDS are lit. nothing works ie rebooting, switching off for a while then rebooting, doesnt receive signal from remote. The STB is a pace. Am I able to sort it or am I stuffed. Would appreciate any help. Thanks

Re: STB died on me

well eventually got through to faults. Imagine having to pay to stay on hold for 20 mins to report a fault of one of their services. Anyways got an engineer coming out on Wednesday, we will wait and see. Now to wrangle the time off work. Groan

Re: STB died on me

My Pace box has done a similar thing, although I get a variety of displays. Most of the time it looks like fractured numbers and one of the indicator lights is on - don't know which one as I haven't seen any of them on before.

The system has only been installed for just over three weeks, previously had NTL at another address for over five years with no real problems. Strange thing about this box (which was changed when I moved) is that when it boots up, after displaying 'PACE' it then says 'NLT' instead of 'NTL' !

Is it a dead box, or can it be revived in any way?

Re: STB died on me

Spent 30 mins holding on phone on Sat pm only to be told that my new address hadn't been registered on the system, so if they send an engineer he will go to my old house!! That's odd because when I notified them of the address change they sent the installation crew to my new house the day before I moved in!!
Apparently it can take several days to type in a new address, I gave them the info on Thursday and it hadn't been done by Saturday so I need to check again later. Is the Samsung box better than Pace? ie should I ask for one?

If the box was showing nit(not nlt)then this means something totally different and isnt intended to be ntl.(network information table i think).

Re: STB died on me

Don't know if my new Samsung box has died, but it's certainly not very well. Premature senile dementure, I suspect.

Symptoms of this include regularly freezing - as in not accepting commands from the remote, then belatedly "remembering" those commands and implementing them when I least expect it.

Tasks like changing channels etc have therefore become a bit of a lottery. Apart from anything else, you might eventually get it to switch to the channel you require, but a few moments later it'll choose a different channel seemingly of its own peculiar preference. Then it might display the miniguide, the information panel, or perhaps even switch to interactive.

I've tried using the originally supplied remote, a meticulously-programmed one-for-all-six and the combined ntl keypad and remote. Same problem occurs with all three.

Cust Servs seem intent on sending me a NEW remote which, at a guess, is probably among the least of my problems. Surely this must be a dodgy box, mustn't it? Anyone else suffered this or, even better, got a solution?

PS: Not trying to hijack this thread, just keen to avoid uneccessary new ones.
