Re: Phone NTL FREE.
So I guess that NTL have received a number of calls where the caller has hung up straight away or did you all upgrade your package while you were on?

There's a bit of confusion here - you are actually a BT Customer for your telephone line service, NTL only provide services that are either dialled with a prefix or using CPS (Carrier Pre-Selection). If you're phone line goes down, it's BT that must repair it (151 for faults and whoever answers will be responsible for fixing it!)

Sorry, I didn't phrase my post right...
What I meant was if my ntl line went down and I had to ring faults on BT or mobile line, is there a 0800 equivalent or do we still have to the 0845?
Sorry...

What do you want... jam on it ?
You'd have to fall back on the 0845 to make contact via a different carrier. Not ideal, I grant you - but I very rarely lose phone service, TV and BB are usually the first to go! Incidentally, they might also have the good sense to permit you to call 150/151 when your line is barred for yet another billing error....!

Thanx 4 the clarification Okonski, finally got an internet connection this am. but if I was still unable to connect, I assume NTL would want me 2 call their 0901 no. at £1/min. for a technical query. Still not sure that any service provider who is taking a customer's money, should charge them for finding out why the service they're paying 4 is not being provided! Is it me?
Cheers

Of course it's not you! That's why NTL provide a FREE telephone number to advise callers if there are connectivity issues. Call 0800 052 4315, from memory this provides a menu to select whether you're a BB or dial-up customer and advises of the outage periods. Support on 0901 is one thing, and if they have to charge that's a good a way as any, but if you just ewant to know if it is them or you, the 0800 works well!
