Question Yahoo Groups emails

Is anyone else experiencing problems in receiving e-mails from yahoo Groups. As I have not received any e-mails for the various lists I am subscribed to in 4 days?

My e-mail address was bouncing, but I reactivated it

Re: Yahoo Groups emails

Yahoo is always playing up but you should reactivate you account as this will stop messages coming in. Any reason it keeps bouncing do you know of?

Re: Yahoo Groups emails

I have reactivated the account, but it took three days for mails to come through. As I use digest mode, I missed quite a few mails.

The message on the Bounce History was:-

Mail server for "ntlworld.com" unreachable for too long

I believe it is a NTL problem, as I have been receiving digest messages out of sequence, and I am not the only person, as someone else on one of the lists also has been receiving mails out of sequence.

I had one come into tonight several hours late but I am not sure if any are taking days to arrive as half the ones I get I bin anyway.

Baz what do you mean you are paying for a service you are not recieving as Yahoo Groups are a free service that they provide.

Re: Yahoo Groups emails

Well my mails are soft bouncing again according to Yahoo Groups.

What is NTL upto, in that there server is unreachable, are they blocking mails from Yahoo groups, due to Psam concerns?

That would then require me to actively look at other email accounts, which I do not want to do.

I have not even received the reactivation mail for my main email address, though I have added a secondary NTL address, that I have, that did receive the activation mail. I am just waiting to see if any mails come through on that mail address.

Angry Re: Yahoo Groups emails

I have been having problems receiving Yahoo Groups emails for nearly 3 months now.
It is NTLs server that either turns the emails away or bounces them as spam, or is too busy ie "unreachable"
It isn't yahoos fault as such because they do send your emails on but NTL refuse them.
I'm on about 20+ yahoo email groups, two of which I own, yet I cannot receive my individual emails even on the groups I own.
In all of the groups I am on it is only the NTL members that have any problems.
I have constantly contacted the NTL live support to report the problem yet they cannot seem to fix it.
I don't even receive my reactivation emails from Yahoo Groups, so I can't reactivate my bouncing email address!!
So what do we all do now??
Do we all swap ISPs?? .... I don't see why I should. Even the NTL help lines suggested that I use Yahoo email!

Re: Yahoo Groups emails

Thought I would pop into this thread and try and help out with any advice.
Due to the disgraceful way that the NTL mail server times out for Yahoo Groups I have given up using NTL mail for those Groups.
I understand that people are reluctant to set up another mail account but do not see a reason this would cause a problem. NTL give you a miserly 10MB mail box and Yahoo gives you a 1GB mail box. With a Yahoo.UK mailbox you get free POP access, unlike Yahoo.com, and you can easily set it up as the one you receive mail from in a group and still leave your NTL one to send mail from. You can even change the SMTP setting to NTL for the Yahoo one and use it that way.
Due to the number of Groups I own and belong to, I use many different mail boxes to handle the volume, so what is so hard just to check one second mail box?
Until NTL get their finger out I do not see them as being viable for Yahoo Groups due to missed mail and bouncing.
The NTL spam filter sucks as I even get mail from two different bodies for Maplin Electronics and one comes through ok and the other one is flagged as spam with no apparent way to get it flagged correctly.
If anybody needs help setting up a second mailbox with a Yahoo Group just let me know and I will talk you through it.
Since I switched to using Yahoo mail for Groups I have not had one bounce or mislaid message and have been using them for some time now with no apparent problems.

Re: Yahoo Groups emails

Hi,
Thanks for your reply and I know it's a solution to the problem but I objet to paying for a service from NTL which I am not getting.
I have already done that and it does work very well! .... but I think NTL should fix their problem for all of us that are stuck in this situation .... instead of leaving us to cope with it.
We are paying them to supply our email service so I should deduct some money from the bill? .... or *they* should as *they* can't supply the service!

I have just phoned the NTL Broadband Support line on 0845 454 0000 to report the fault.
They cut me off once after 20 minutes while I was waiting for the fellow to come back with the results of his checking the problem.
Then I phoned back and had to get in the queue again and I went through all of the name address etc. and reported the problem again.
This time I was told that it had nothing to do with NTL and I should email an account of what is going on to

groups-abuse@yahoo-inc.com

I'm going to email them and see what they come back with?

When I contact NTL it appears that they don't want to listen to the problem and they won't acknowledge that they have a problem. It took me a couple of goes before I could get even a ref Number from NTL for my calls reporting the fault.

If I get any significant answers from Yahoo I will come back and post them on here.
Diane

Re: Yahoo Groups emails

I wish you luck in trying to sort this out.
As has been said in other threads, according to NTL, the mail service is a *free* extra and is not paid for, so if it is causing problems then tough.
Also a 10MB mailbox is woefully inadequate in todays market. I know we can set up multiple mailboxes, but I would rather have the option for only one or two, but at least 250MB in size.
