Help!

Guys/gals,

I've trying to set up a remote router with my box upstairs and a recent purchase of a lap top. I'm with NTL who say they don't support remote routers. What does this mean??

More importantly I cant get access to the internet using my box upstairs using the remote router. I know it is working and have followed the instructions in setting it up. I have set up a USB LAN device and the signal is good. I just can't get them to connect. Likewise, my lap top has wireless lan and the signal is good but I can't connect with the router. Can anyone help out here???

Re: Help!

if your accessing the net via a set top box rather than a cable modem you will either need to register the mac address of the router with the STB or clone the already registered mac address onto the router.(ie the mac address of the ethernet card that you used to access the net from)

Re: Help!

Tom

not sure what you mean by "remote router" - if you mean a wireless router, this thread may help.

Re: Help!

What make & model is the router?

If it is wireless, what wireless network cards do you have in the laptop & desktop?

basically if you have any problems with your BB tech support will require you to unplug the router and connect directly to the SACM / STB before they will be able to help
