What wattage is the PSU? Do you have any drives or cards installed?

Its a 400 watt PSU. The only card I used was the graphics card, but it behaved the same removing the card.

Re: New built PC won't POST or beep.
Thanx for the help. I'm just so gutted atm. I so wanted this to go smoothly and just my bloody luck, it doesn't
Going to RMA the motherboard in the morning. Have to wait ages for another one.
I just pray I didn't damage the other components in the constant pulling in and out. Also, might get another case and PSU to save ripping apart my current computer again... In case I f**k that one up too

Not sure what the law is regarding an RMA but if you bought it online you could avail of the distance selling regs to get a refund and go elsewhere if the RMA is going to take ages. Time is of the essence and all that.

Well, I got it from Dabs, and they say "expect 4-6 weeks for a resolution"... I bloody hope its sooner.

Taken from
http://www.oft.gov.uk/business/runni...ce+selling.htm
Quote:
The regulations also give consumers the unconditional right to cancel an order and any related credit agreement:- Goods - seven working days, starting from the day after they are received.
- Services - seven working days, starting from the day after the contract is made.
There are certain types of goods which do not have a cancellation right (for example, personalised goods) and you can prevent a consumer cancelling a service contract once you have started to provide the service. Where a consumer cancels, if they have paid in advance you must refund all the money within 30 days, though you can normally charge them for the cost of returning the goods.
You should also remember that consumers still have their normal statutory rights to return all faulty or misdescribed goods at no charge.
|
So you can demand a full refund, go and get a new board and just wait for the refund to come through in the next 30 days.
4-6 weeks on an RMA is a bit much and would actually stop me from ordering from Dabs again.

Re: New built PC won't POST or beep.
Thanx for the advice
Dabs do collect their own stuff, at their own cost, which is good. But I think the offer refunds instead of replacements... Meaning the refund is minus the inital shipping.
I am having to RMA something else to Dabs atm as well which isn't good. I am so fed up.

You've just hit the reason i never shop at Dabs, they are really good right up until you want to RMA something - then they turn into diablo's right hand man.
Good luck.

If you ment this the other way around, i.e. replacements, not refunds, you can demand a refund. If you're having problems with other kit from them then they should be offering a refund as a good will gesture anyway.

Re: New built PC won't POST or beep.
you can reject the good within 7 working days under distance seeling and they have to refund. Initiial postal costs are lost though.

Its the same one as you originally built.... The Gigabyte job.
I might pop down to PCWorld and grab another PSU and give it another go.. I'm not entirely convinced my ones up to it. I say its 400w... Its a generic job, and over 2 years old.. They lose wattage over time don't they?

They certainly seem to get poorer at voltage regulation - especially when they are very lightly loaded.
