FM Radio Service

Hi,

I work for a radio station that broadcasts on the NTL FM network in East Sussex. This is the stations only FM output.
Can anyone give me any ideas as to wether NTL are going to continue to provide this FM service for the forseeable future and also whom I need to talk to at NTL regarding stations on the FM feed.

We are looking to expand our coverage area and would like to know if there is any cost involved and what technical aspects we need to consider.

Many Thanks

Stuart

Re: FM Radio Service

Thanks to a guy called Pete, who called me back, there is no way to expand across into other franchises now unless a station is broadcasting on digital services.

and for those interested, word on the street is, that in East Sussex anyhow,... NTL analogue FM on the network has about 3-4 years left.. max!

Thnx for your help everyone..

Stu

Re: FM Radio Service

Out of curiosity, what is the name of the station?

Have you considered Sky Digital? (I understand their DTV carraige fees are much better value than ntl, and deliver a far higher penetration of listeners).

Re: FM Radio Service

I think ntl: are slowly taking services off their analogue FM service - earlier in the year, Virgin Radio disappear from the Nottingham area, and I hear it has in other franchises too.

But they only reach 15% of homes that Sky does.

Re: FM Radio Service

Guys,

I think most of you are barking up the wrong tree, I believe this is about a business (Radio Station) that has a contract with ntl: Broadcast to deliver their FM Radio Station via NTL's broadcast transmitters. Nothing to do with ntl: home, Digi TV etc..

darkone338 - Surely you have an account manager or contact at NTL who could but you in touch with such as person? I have no knowledge of NTL Broadcast, but certainly in NTL Business you would go to your account manager.

Re: FM Radio Service

Or is it a channel broadcasting on the FM passthrough on one of the analogue cable franchise areas?

I read this as broadcasting on the closed FM hook-up system, not ntl B'cast.
