Angry No schedule available!

Last couple of days have been unable to receive programming schedule, just keep getting 'No schedule available!' Is this a general problem or do I need to reboot?

Re: No schedule available!

I echo what Scooby just said. I find that this is a major problem with the STBs. A simple reboot does (in my case) provide a solution.

I understand how irritating it can be when this happens - attempting to find a TV Guide or even going out and buying one!! Thought the days of buying a TV guide were behind us.

It has come to my attention that ntl: are in fact looking into this problem to see if they can pinpoint a probable cause for the fault. How long this will take is anyones guess and quite frankly, as patient as I am, I think they will tell us that we are "flicking" through the channels too much or something to that effect.

Re: No schedule available!

I'm so irritated with this problem that I've connected my STB to the mains through a time switch which turns it off for an hour in the middle of the night. It seems to have done the trick.

Re: No schedule available!

I'll wear out the OK/LEFT/TV keys on my box (reset keypress for the DiTV1000, unless in a worse than normal deadlock).

No schedule, no broadband, no interactive, loss of lipsync - any of those and I give it the three finger gesture - perhaps we should make that our universal symbol for STB problems.

I guess with Sky boxes and freeview boxes, variety improved the breed - those that didn't make the grade, fell by the wayside - an evolution which has been lacking in the single supplier world of Cable.

Ok, there is now an alternative, the Silver Samsung - a friend has one, and it's a lot better at holding it together on broadband and TV.

I'll second that - I used to regularly have to reboot my old Pace. Since having it replaced by the Samsung (for the BB speed upgrade), I've had no problems at all. The problem may be getting hold of a Samsung UNLESS you have 1.5MB broadband.

I dont know there are still a fair few rubbish Freeview boxes out there, I brought a new Goodmans box for the spare room to replace my old On Digital box, the On Digital was much much better, it may be slow but it was pretty good and reliable I just wanted faster text but everything else about the box was worse.

There are a number of Poor Sky boxes too, generally the cheapo Amstrad and Pace boxs for £99 are absolutely cack reliability wise, they break after about 13 months. Its a Testament to the old Pace boxes they are still going, I wonder how many pre year 2000 Sky dodgyboxes are still around? (practically all ntl boxes were designed before then), the same applies for ITV Digital boxes that are still going strong.............Its seems Sky typically have an inbuilt bustability to keep revenue flowing!

You can get the Schedule data to return on excw CR3 by entering the settings menu then going to the TV guide on some occassions and pressing TV. Sometimes a good reeboot is the only solution.

I have taken the great advice of I think someone off this forum and fitted a timer to the box to make it reeboot at 3am everyday, this keeps everything running smoothly, Interactive, Speedy Channel Changes, Schedule Changes and Broadband.
