Urgent help

Hi Everyone, I am new on this forum and would like some help. I have NTL broadband through a set top box and also have a Ethernet to USB converter going in to the back of the PC. The problem is , Is if i have it connected to the back of the pc when it is off and i start it up windows crashes also if i switch the pc on and put the converter in straight away windows crashes again!!!!

I have just tryed to connect the converter on its own with out the lan connected and the same problem, happens


Can you please help me????????

How does Windows crash (blue screen?). What version of Windows?

No doubt someone from NTL will be along soon - do you have to install the drivers BEFORE plugging in the converter?

Have you got the drivers for the adapter installed?

Is there something conflicting with your USB ports? Do the USB ports work OK otherwise?

Someone tha knows more will be along shortly.

Hi All thanks for the replys i am using XP and yes it goes to the blue screen also any other usb device is ok just the converter. I thought that it was broken so i got anther one and that did the same thing

What chipset have you got?

Try restarting the computer in safe mode with networking and see if you get the same BSOD
