Pace STB Funny picture quality..
This is odd... now I understand that Digital Tv is compressed, yadda yadda but sometimes watching my NTL digibox looks like a movie downloaded off the internet? Now i know i have never seen this with Sky digi ... And no i dont want sky digital had nothing but problems with it up the girlfriends place.
So my question is ... Do i need an engineer to remove this umm ... mpg looking picture i have?
Sometimes looks like the picture is small and my TV is making it fullscreen!

Re: Pace STB Funny picture quality..
what channel is this on, or is it all of them? it all depends how much bandwidth the channel has and what content its showing. I would expect this on say eurosport showing footy, but not on sky sports or sky movies. If its all the channels, then yep call someone in.

Re: Pace STB Funny picture quality..
E4 is broadcast with a low horizontal resolution. This is EXACTLY the same as on satellite (because ntl take the E4 feed off satellite and stick it down the cable unmodified).

E4 is notably bad on Telewest, bad enough not to watch. Or is that the programme lineup?

If it has one of these 100Hz modes (or applies any kind of processing on the image) that can degrade image quality on any digital source (including Sky). Have you tried turning any image processing functions down or off?
Having said that, maybe the box does have something to do with it? The picture quality is noticably better (apart from one problem, which I'll discuss in another thread) on the Samsung than the Pace box it replaced.
