Digital Televison Service

Hi,

I was wondering how many people here are in the same situation as myself. I subscribe to NTL for one reason and one reason alone. I have no other choice with regards to a Digital service. However i do not have any of the interactive features that the majority of customers have and nor can NTL tell me when i will get this. However I am still expected to pay the same ammount, which has just gone up i might add for a lesser service.

The reason i am not allowed to go to another provider is that no other cable companies service my area and i am not allowed to put a Sky dish up as it contraveenes building regulations.

I read recently about the customer services recorded message error that ntl suffered in cumbria where it told people phoning up to "F%$K off as they didn't care" which i found really funny until i realised this is what NTL apparently seem to be saying to me all the time.

does anyone else feel this way?

Cheers

James

Re: Digital Televison Service: Poor value for money?

Hi James and

I would have thought that it would be the necessity for planning permission rather than building regulations that would prevent you from having a satellite dish. Satellite dishes don't necessarily have to be fitted to the exterior of the house and can be fitted to a garden wall or pole in the garden which may remove the need for planning permission. I would check with your local council planning department for alternatives that you could use that are ok with them. Have a look at http://europa.eu.int/comm/internal_m...antenna_en.pdf and remind the planning office about this directive.

There are less obstrusive satellite dishes than the standard sky supplied dish and even a satellite aerial. Have a google for these, one site being http://www.susat.co.uk/satmeter.php#ant .
