Dialup access for broadband customers...

Is it still possible to dialup over ntl phoneline if I'm a broadband customer?

Long time ago, used to be able to, using all same settings. Now I can't find any dialup numbers on the ntlworld site other than some **1263**08005190100 which is interesting to say the least as DUN doesn't want to accept the first **'s??!

I'm not bothered if I have to pay 1p a minute (free would be nice but doubtful).... I just want a flipping dialup number so that an old computer I use can connect to t'internet and windows update.

Comp is windows98se... and when i try an connect on the above number (missing out the **1263**) I get a password error as soon as it connects. Presumably username & pass are same as email settings?

Quick help appreciated

Re: Dialup access for broadband customers...

try omitting the **1263** as this is a 'routing code' to route your call over ntl 'wires' if calling from another teleco provider

Re: Dialup access for broadband customers...

I think i'm right in assuming that the user name and password that you are using for broadband(same as your primary email account), will no longer work for dialup, your details would have been moved(migrated?) over when you swithced to broadband.

Can you not get hold of a cheap PCI network card and plug the PC into your broadband(powering off the cable modem between PC cable swaps).
