Unhappy Weird Yahoo mail problem

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help with what seems to be a weird Yahoo mail problem...

For the last few days my home PC and laptop, that are connected to my NTL 600BB connection via a NetGear router seem to not be able to connect to Yahoo mail. However I can log into my Yahoo account, see my calendar, bookmarks etc.

But if I click on my Inbox a dialog message with a long URL is displayed....kinda like it is trying to download a file and then the box timesout after a minute or two.

On other machines I have tried this problem does not occur, which makes me think it is something specific to these machines or my NTL connection.

I have tried stripping out Yahoo companion etc and reinstalling but that has not helped. I can get to Yahoo mail if I use a online proxy such as http://www.the-cloak.com

My internet security settings have not changed as far as I am aware, and I have also tried deleting all temp files and cookies.

I'm not sure what else to try now, please help

Try altering your proxy server.

Re: Weird Yahoo mail problem

Hehe...just added 80.1.224.4 for Bromley1 and it's fixed it

I don't ever remember adding any specific proxy settings in the past though... have NTL changed something recently....or have I just been lucky?

Thanks for your help

DANNY

Re: Weird Yahoo mail problem

Couldn't tell you, even as an NTL customer I never understood completely how they worked (and actually wanted to understand even less )

Lord only knows. There are quite a few sites that have problems with the proxy servers, Yahoo is one of them. Seems to be dynamic content that has trouble. I find that I'm constantly swapping between using the transparent proxy and specifying a proxy. Sometimes one will work and sometimes the other will work. It varies. I don't know why - something must be going on. All part of the fun of being an NTL customer I guess

Ah yes indeed.... I've had quite a bit of customer fun, though probably no more than most

I'm pleased it working now, I wasn't sure if it was Yahoo though...as I have had some problems there since they changed the mail services over (I am a Yahoo Mailplus subscriber)...

Its really annoying that Yahoo add or remove features if you are a non-US customer.... for example the SPYWARE button on Yahoo Companion.... I know I can change my regional settings but that's not idea either.
