Then I'd guess the uploader (s) arent uploading at the same rate.
If browinf etc is fine, the only place the problem can be is the person (s) sending you the file. Check the amount of sources, look at them in detail and see how many of the sources have ALL the file.
I dont use torrents now purely because I could get stuff faster on 9.2k dialup!!

Re: torrent downloads in belfast
I think so yeah, I know you can pause downloads and shut down the client.
If you're getting slow speeds remember to check that people can connect to you, i.e. port forwarding on your router.

Re: torrent downloads in belfast
what i have noticed is that azureus doesnt seem to cripple my browsing , bitcomet used to for some reason , even if the max upload was set to 10k/s on a 1 mb line

Re: torrent downloads in belfast
problem with torrents sometimes is like i had once
I was downloading a album of which everyone seemed to have 94% i got 120kbs solid till 94% then a solid 0kbs, just depends if u race above the person with high upload rate say,
You download a torrent
100mb say
someone is uploading at 86kbs but only had 92% and the person in front of him is only uploading at 3kbs
When you hit 92% you will not be downloading from this person at 86kbs you will move to the person at 3kbs although sharing you could only get 1.5kbs if your lucky,
Torrents are a good idea if everyone had 1mb upload and download lol. And actually kept torrents open once downloading and uploaded it.

Did ntl neuter bittorrent just before speed increase?
This is a c'n'p of what I just posted to the newsgroups.
Usually I can max out both my download and upload on torrents. Now I get
on average 1.1kb/s down, but can still max out my upload.
My cable went down twice before the speed increase. Once for 10 minutes,
then again for 10 minutes 2 days later. When it came back the second
time I had the speed increase.
Thinking back though, bittorrent has been slow since the first downtime,
not the second.

Re: Did ntl neuter bittorrent just before speed increase?
I dont know, i usually hold steady about 65kB/s most of the time on a 1.5mbit.
What bt client do you use? Is there a health status, or a green or yellow light?
