How do I get rid of it?

I have been asked to go around to look at a computer that has a virus and all I have been told is as soon as they turn on the computer it shuts down. I do not know the operating systsem but from that I suspect it has the blaster virus.

How do I get rid of the virus if the computer shuts down straight away so that I can get the patch put on.

Please help.

If its the baster virus it shuts down after one minute and gives you a warning. Therefore you can kill the MSBLAST.EXE process before it shuts the computer down.

Take a look here

Sounds like Blaster to me.
Enable the XP default firewall etc before you remove the virus.

Try changing the date to next year, I'm sure I recall that blaster is set to remove itself after a certain date.

Re: How do I get rid of it?

I have already spoken to some body with regards to this and they told me what to do so I will try it when I go to look at the computer.

I am going to have a look on Saturday so I shall be back on here if it does not work.

Thanks.
