Is there any validity in what he says about the virus being small enough to pass through the fibres of a condom? I don't know although I feel he may be mistaken.
On the whole subject - no-one ever got pregnant or contracted a STI through abstinance.

First of all I (hope) that I made it clear that this view was not help by most members of the church
Also as for validity, it is not really true. The vatican took a report and seriously misquoted a report and took it out of context as well as changing the results
The report did a test, on the bad condoms that had 'holes' in them a small amount of water got though also in these test there was more pressure than a real life situation. Thats where the figure of 5% got though. Also this tested the WHOLE surface of the condom. the important parts have a lot better chance of stopping the virus
But HIV is 5% bigger and there is not enough pressure. First of all you need to get a condom with a hole in (it is impossible for anything to pass though one without a hole) the chances of getting a hole are around 500 to 1. Then the chances of the virus was a extremely rare chance of getting through. All the tests showed the virus did not get through. Then enough has to actually get though. Basically the chance is much smaller than 0.1% and thats if you get a bad condom
Much lower the the "35%"for all condoms claimed by the vatican

No - I've dragged this off-topic by mentioning BB.
We should be talking about the Vatican's claims...

There wouldn't be much future for the survival of the species if we all practised that??

If I told you there's a cult that advocates practices that are harmful to the health of its members, and that cult has a history of persecution, torture and murder, you'd be up in arms demanding action. How come we tolerate the Catholic Church then??

But someone using a condom is more likely to catch AIDS through other forms of sexual or non sexual contact with the carrier. Any open sore, or small cut in the mouth acts as a pathway, while the stomach is hostile to virus, the mouth is not.

Re: AIDS/Panorama
I cought the second half of the program on the tv last night, and was shocked by the outrageous b0ll0ck$ being preached to the ill-educated, in the third world. There was an interview with a woman from Uganda, who had continued to have unprotected sex with her husband, even though he had be confirmed as an AIDS carrier. The womans reasoning for not using a condom, was that it was against gods will (as tought by the catholic church), and using a condom would cause her to loose gods grace and go to hell. When the guy making the program asked the Ugandan cardinal about this womans beliefs and it leading to her (possible, but un-tested Aids status), he said that if she died of aids, having followed her religous convictions the woman could be considered a martyr.
Holy $h1t. Its the bl00dy 21st century, and these idiots are playing games with peoples health and conviction. What a shower of self-serving b@st@rd$.

I think that SMHarman is prolly refering to oral sex, rather than having a good snog. But I could be wrong in my interperation of the post.

I was thinking more through oral sex (F>M and M>F or any other big brother like permutations), and non sexually through cuts, damaged skin etc. I thought we all knew that getting it from kissing was unlikely, but sitting on a toilet seat, now there's another matter
