DNS Server Renfrew

HI,

Anyone know if there is a DNS server problem this morning on the Renfrew line?

65% of my normal web pages cannot be found on first attempt and about 20% of them will eventually come up with repeated CTRL-F5.

Thanks

Re: DNS Server Renfrew

My non-technical mind is guessing their must be as i transferred the nameservers of my site and on that proxy i now use, it doesnt work, though without it does.

Re: DNS Server Renfrew

If you are running xp, what happens if you try nslookup on an number of domain names randomly (that you know exist)?

How to use NSLookup

For informative purposes only:

Nildran
Primary DNS 195.112.4.4
Secondary DNS 195.112.4.7

Tiscali
Primary DNS 212.74.112.66
Secondary DNS 212.74.112.67

Freeserve
Primary DNS 195.92.195.94
Secondary DNS 195.92.195.95

Edios/Easynet
Primary DNS 195.40.1.36
Secondary DNS 193.131.248.36

Zen:
212.23.8.1
212.23.8.6

Pipex:
NS0-P.DNS.PIPEX.NET
158.43.129.80
NS1-P.DNS.PIPEX.NET
158.43.193.80

BT:
DNS1.BTINTERNET.COM
194.73.73.172
DNS2.BTINTERNET.COM
194.73.73.173
DNS4.BTINTERNET.COM
217.32.252.225
DNS3.BTINTERNET.COM
217.32.252.25

Using another services is essentially illegal becuase you are using their network without authorised permission. I dont claim to know the legality nor condone the use of these DNS servers, purely for diagnostic purposes (which is still questionable).

Dont use the above DNS Servers.

Example nslookup output:

Server: london.sol3.schillernet < Name of the DNS Server
Address: 192.168.0.1

Non-authoritative answer:
< Successful response
Name: www.bbc.net.uk
Address: 212.58.224.115
Aliases: www.bbc.co.uk

Re: DNS Server Renfrew

It sounds like a problem with proxy servers, not DNS. If it was ntl's dns servers it would be affecting everyone nationwide.

Try specifying a different proxy server and see if this helps. There is a list on robin walkers site.
