Digital photos on TV.
I don't know if this is possible, so I am asking the fount of all wisdom for help.
I want to put a collection of Digital Photo's on to a CD or DVD as a slide show that can be played on a domestic DVD/CD player and displayed on the Television Screen.
I've had a look at "irfanview" and it looks as if this will do the job, but there is too much information in the Help files for my tired old brain to assimilate.
So - is it possible?
Will irfanview do the job, or is there something else I could use ?
In what format should the files on the "Domestic CD" be?
Briefly, what would be the steps needed to perform the task, i.e convert picture files to common (Jpeg?) format or something else.
Windows XPPro, DVD and CD burner, an OEM (bundled) version of Nero 5.
Many thanks.
Joe

Re: Digital photos on TV.
Hi Joe,
a lot depends on the DVD player being used to view the disc.
Recently i used XP's drag-and-drop burning software to dump a load of jpegs onto a disk. When this is put in my £30 Argos DVD player it autolaunches into a slideshow and is great.
I'm sure someone will have some more concise advise soon though! good luck.

Re: Digital photos on TV.
you will have to check your manual \ web to see if your player supports jpeg.. if yours doesn't you can burn them onto a vcd \ picture DC format with nero \ roxio etc.. this is ok but the slideshow just scrolls through with no rotate \ zoom etc..

Re: Digital photos on TV.
First time I tried this I used Windows movie maker which did a reasonable job and was straight forward enough. I think I then used media player to burn it in a vcd format. The only problem I found was that when I burnt it the hard work I'd put into syncing an audio track to the slide show was wasted cos the slide durations dropped back to a default.
Best thing to do though, is too experiment which is why I used vcd instead of dvd (dvds were a lot more expensive at the time )

Re: Digital photos on TV.
what sort of DVD player do you have mate?
you may find that you do not need to buy any additional software at all..

Re: Digital photos on TV.
Your DVD player may support Kodak PhotoCD format (a lot do). If so, you could convert the images to PhotoCD using something like PaintShopPro and then burn them onto a "PhotoCD" using Nero, etc.

Re: Digital photos on TV.
Many thanks for the replies so far.
To clarify my problem a bit - the photographs in question are of my Grandaughters Wedding and consist , so far, of a cd with just the "raw" images from a camera with a threat of more to come..
As not many of the assembled congregation have PC's just to make copies on CD's isnt going to achieve much. However most of the relatives have DVD players, or can get access to one, hence my original question.
There is a slight problem in that I don't have a DVD player on my TV, so if I can find something that looks ok, I shall have to get somebody to take the disc home and report back as to whether or not it works.
You have all given me food for thought, so I'll have a go and see what happens.
thanks everybody.

VCD STILLS can be of higher quality than VCD movies - SOME slideshows will be made as movies (essential if you use transitions), but you may be able to intersperse them with stills and sound.
