Re: The Anti-Big Brother Thread!! :D
I agree with most of the posters, I think 'reality' is the misnomer, 'staged' as said by Web Junkie is what it is, reality TV are real life documentaries not manipulated to increase viewing numbers.
Entertaining it isn't, a reflection on the media's manipulation of us all it is.
I sometimes think that we are in a worse postion than those in the old Soviet Union, at least they knew everything in the media was propaganda (bulls**t), we don't.

Re: The Anti-Big Brother Thread!! :D
I avoided Big Brother the first year it was on and only ended up watching the second series because a guy I liked at the time persuaded me to (and asked me to watch Big Brother ).
I have to admit amongst all you anti-BBs that I loved BB2. That said, I hated the third one - to me it was a "Hey come and look at the stupid ugly people and laugh at them" attitude all the way through. I was apparently one of the few people who quite enjoyed the fourth series.
It's not something that takes over my life but I'll almost definitely watch the first episode and see how it goes.
That said, I'm glad to see this anti-thread. Generally I think there's far too much reality TV awfulness on these days.
So I'm a kind of double agent because I'm likely to be on both boards....! Is that allowed?

Well exactly. I think these should be called "Look at just how desperate some people are to get on TV and just what they will do to achieve that goal!" programmes (although I admit it's not quite as catchy a description!)

I think they're great programmes, keeps the wife busy and that means I get time on the PC/Golf Course etc. Downside is I pay for the TV/$KY subscriptions..

Yay, let's have a non-BB-watching crawl round each other's houses! We can spend the opening night not watching it at Incog's house, then round Debsy's to avoid the first eviction show ... any other volunteers?
You could all come round here one week, if you don't mind the fact that I live fairly close-ish to Elstree. Wouldn't want you to feel tainted
Or, we could all actually go to an eviction and wave deeply sarcastc Cable Forum-branded banners live on air

Many thanks, Graham, for providing this Sanctuary of sensibility and calm, reasoned, quiet protest against the various people who allow the subject of the thread to affect their existance, and what is worse, allow that to encroach upon mine.
Long may they linger in the OTHER thread, which I can now happily avoid, safe in the knowledge that regardless of how many premium rate texts/phone calls they have subscribed to, their favoured misfit will have been voted out anyway by others more ready/able to waste fortunes to C4, their telco provider, Uncle Tom Cobbley & all.
But thats Entertainment.
Edit: Unnecessary insults removed - please don't go OTT Nikko. (pem)

Re: The Anti-Big Brother Thread!! :D
I think the whole reality tv thing has run its course and all the shows should now cease. Of course, it will take the tv producers a while before they catch on that we're all ****ed off with them.

I'm sure other fans of Big Brother as well as myself would take exception at being referred to in that way.

Re: The Anti-Big Brother Thread!! :D
Why is it that when I read through the two BB threads we have going here, I find myself humming FURB?
