*CF RTA Survey*
As a spinoff from another thread, I wondered what real data we could produce as a group.
I want everyone to be honest now and admit to all the accidents they've either been guilty of, or on the receiving end of.
Please use the following format:
(I've only had one accident, so repeat as required on your own list)
s1lv3r- Accident Number : Description : Gender of driver at fault (your details if you were at fault) : Approximate age of guilty party
- Accident 1 : Rear End Shunt : Female : 30-35

Re: *CF RTA Survey*
Two accidents, both on the receiving end as a cyclist.
1) I was turning left on a roundabout, a driver came around it too fast, turning right and parked his front bumper into my back wheel, knocking me onto the pavement. Driver was Male aged about 40-50.
2) Overtaking a milk float, the driver suddenly turned right across my path without looking (I know because I was watching his eyes in his wing mirror) trapping my handlebars between the side of the float and a parked car (luckily I got my hands out of the way in time!). Driver was Male aged 50+.

Re: *CF RTA Survey*
The van I owned previously was driven into while it was stationary on four separate occasions! Twice, at junctions, it was shunted from the rear (by men). Outside the front of the house it was run into hard by a young woman parking her car and outside the back of the house it was smashed into by someone unknown (but I think I know who he is).
Touch wood - I have had better luck with the new one

Re: *CF RTA Survey*
I have had two accidents I can remember that were my fault - in one I clipped a motor cyclist and in the other I ran into the back of a car.
Two I can think of that involved other people [on me] were a male driver who ran into the back of me, and a female driver who reversed into me !

Re: *CF RTA Survey*
1) driving in snow... tried to stop and slightly overshot the space... scratched the bumper of a golf but a lick of the finger and a rub and it was all sorted. Driver at fault: me: male, age 18 at the time
2) crashed into the central reservation of motorway at 70mph, mechanical failure of car. Driver at fault: me: male, age 19 very scary experience.
EDIT: accident while riding bicycle... driver clipped my handlebars causing me to hit a brick wall, flew over the handle bars, hit the road face first. Driver carried on and left me. I went to hospital and doctor told me if i landed on my nose i would be dead.

Re: *CF RTA Survey*
Two accidents, ever.
Me a 13 year old cyclist wearing a bright pink Puma top. I was following the road at a right hand bend in the road which also had a road joining from the left. The driver pulled out on me as I got to the right hand bend, I hit the right hand wing of his car and then bounced across his bonnet, ending up on the road the other side of his car. No injury to me. All this happened just after a cop car had gone by, and the driver witnessed the incident in his rear view mirror, the copper turned round immediately. The driver who pulled out on me was so shaken up, the copper had to move his car for him. The copper then had to drive him back to my house the cop had to ask my Mum ( I was 13) whether she wanted to prosecute him for dangerous driving, she didn't. He was in tears. He was in his fifties.
Second was me driving a car, under a railway bridge followed immediately by a crossroads where I had right of way. Another car was going across the crossroads. The driver pulled out as I approached, no chance of stopping. He admitted liability straightaway, and said he was concentrating on young kids (who were there) about two hundred yards up the road he was pulling in to. Driver was approx 22 and male.

Re: *CF RTA Survey*
3 Accidents
First one, yonks ago when I was 21 - Fault - 3rd Party - My car was parked and not in use and a Taxi driver came up our road - its a dead end road, his passengers must of known this because - they did a runner from the taxi - without paying. So the taxi driver in a frenzy, reversed down the street, with all its doors open, hit my car and 16 others. The taxi driver was never caught - I lost out big time - no claims and higher premiums - I only had my car eight weeks when this happened. Made me sick to the stomach.
Second Accident happened a year later when I was 22 - Was going round - a roundabout - I had right of way and a foreign woman who was from France, hit me side on. Was her fault.
3rd Accident - 3rd Party to blame - was driving in the country, sheep were walking in the road - I slowed down to a halt - when I was hit from behind at 50MPH - my car was written off. My first car - was feeling sombre watching it being hoisted onto a trailer and being taken away from me forever.

Re: *CF RTA Survey*
Oh dear self abuse time:
1) Me learning to drive (age 17ish). Dad says lets drive round Marble Arch (London) during morning rush hour - me unwisely acting as chaffeur during summer hols . Emerge minus front bumper.
2) Me having just learnt to drive. Car park behind shops, 300 odd spaces, 5 cars and mine. Mates kicking a ball about. Me, lets show off. Standing start full right hand lock 180 degree turn into back corner of mates car: Ford Fiesta v Hilman Imp. Imp broken rear corner light. Fiesta wrecked tailgate rear bumepr & cill, lights, and all sorts. The innocence of youth
3) Me 19 ish happily driving along in South London in rather rusty Mini. Stopped in traffic on hill. Car in front driven middle aged female fails hill start on three attempts, each getting closre until 3rd time rolls into me, such that my car acting as her brake is enough for her car to jump into gear and leap off into the sunset, me minus front spotlamps.
4) Me 24ish in different Mini pull out blind from side street, into path of saloon car. Male driver. My fault yet residential area, hidden view (due to parked lorries on corner of junction) - sour grapes on my part .
5) Me probably 27ish in beaten up Ford Escort (finally decided Minis are just to much trouble). North London stopped in queue of traffic. Pull away quite fast as car in front and queue appears to clear. After 50 yards traffic stops suddenly, so do I. Car behind 30 year old lady driver doesnt, blaming automatic gearbox and lack of brakes. Bye bye my cars rear end.
6) Me 30ish Fiesta XR2, nice snowy icy day (I don't learn you'll see later). Drive home, gentle sweeping bend on residential estate. Car keeps going straight on into nearside kerb then bounces into central island. Major damage to front suspension.
7) Now for perhaps the most embarrassing: Aged 34ish, driving modern Astra, a company car, turn out of office driveway. Boss is in car behind. The egress is from our drive is rith next to a mini roundabout. My right turn just misses the roundabout, cutting accross one of the roads entering onto it. but the same road has pelican crossing 20 yards away. I am beckoned across the right hand by a driver who kindly stops short. I accelerate into the back of a post office van who has stopped at the crossing. My car front is a mess. PO van barely scratched. Boss drives off smirking, ready to wind me up for next month and remind me of the policy excess on company cars £250 payable by yours truly. Worst though is PO van is driven by a friend. At the time we both worked as Special Constables so it's all round the local nick too
8) There's more: Me 38ish. My own pride and joy, a shiny new Alfa Romeo 156 Sportwagon. less than 300 miles on clock. In office car park, reverse from parking space into new bollard placed only the day before by the neighbouring office. £400 for new spray painted bumper
9) "It's not over till the fat lady sings!" Me 39. Heavy overnight snow has created a sheet of packed ice on my estate. Decide a U turn is unwise in the conditions in my now not so shiny Alfa, especially as I have found some time4 ago the front end is difficult to control due to the power. Decide to do large loop left hadn turn from street to street until I leave the estate and get to gritted roads. 1st turn goes great, straighten up a little then car doing no more than 10 mph slides 20 yards into parked car . Renault 5 rear corner little scratch. Alpha front corner new wing, bumper, healdlight, grille, and messed up hydraulic auto gearbox , steering and suspension.
Anyone wanna be a passenger in my car

Re: *CF RTA Survey*
1). Driving along a straight road, tail-ended a stationary Renault 5 indicating to turn right. Me at fault (sorta). Male 30ish. Driving back to the yard after a hard day installing in Belfast. I was less than 5 mins from the yard driving down a fairly straight road, light traffic, and started into a sneezing fit. By the time I recovered I was 20 - 30 meters from the Renault 5, without time or space to brake. Lady in the car was a bit shaken, and the car had a small scuff on the back bumper. My works van had the front of the bonnet bent tight onto the bodywork, and this had to be replaced.
2). Driving along a straight road, tail ended a stationary Citreon Berlingo. Me at fault. 32ish Male. First day with the new contractor for ntl in Belfast, signed for a brand new Berlingo. Had done a basic fitout of installation stock, and was driving 1/3 of a mile between the ntl store and McNicollas yard. Was dieing from a heavy chest cold, went into a coughing fit and even though I was attenpting to stop, the greasy road surface sent me into the back of a workmates Berlingo. First day of the contract, on money made by the company and I had already cost them about £1000 in damage to two vans.
3). Back-seat passenger along with my late partner in a VW Polo. Hit by another VW Polo side on. Driver of the car I was in at fault. Male 28. Driving back from a mates house in Ballyclare, my mate Dave pulled out at a junction only for us to be hit side on by another Polo doing between 60 and 80 mph. Daves car was written off, having the off-side torn open from the back of the drivers door to the rear wheel-arch. Dave suffered a broken sternum, Rodz (front passenger) ko'ed concussion and brusing, Maureen (my partner) fied from massive internal injuries, me - 8 broken ribs (all on the right side of my back) bruised liver, right kidney and pluericy and brusing to right lung.
