Well got the update this AM. First impressions quite good - nicer look and feel + certain things actually feel a bit quicker! Picture quality seems better, (probably just my imagination...)

Problems so far: Mini guide and channel change is a touch laggy, (as expected!) - though I cured this somewhat by switching on or off. Audio button non-functional. Also had one of those 'your box has an issue' messages and reboot....

The audio button will start to work once you have tuned to a radio station and away again.

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

Hi All

I have just spoken to CS and they have said that there is a delay in the launch of LCR3 in the Hemel Hempstead area due to some problems and could not give me a new date.

Could someboady please confirm this and also give us a new date for the Hemel rollout if there is one.

Cheers

Finally got the new software - but only after power-cycling the box, which had gone to 'StOp'. It makes no difference to the RGB shift. Engineering menus (TV only!) here I come (maybe)

I can't believe just how poor the new mini guide is. The lack of ability to jump from 101 to 200 to 300, etc using page up is really annoying. What is the point in the now/next menu if you have to scroll through 50 channels to get to the one you want? It's quicker to just flick through the channels one by one which is a joke. It amazes that ntl can produce something so poor. Anyone would think they were going out of their way to make it as bad as possible

to the site.

to save flicking through so many channels, you could always reorganise them, mini guide -> favourites -> organise

that should help you a little

But if you're, say, at the end of your favourites watching a programme which is about to end and you want to see what's on BBC1 (if that's the channel at the top of your list) you have to scroll through probably 50-odd channels to get back to the top! Not to mention the time it takes to actually reorganise the favourites. And if your STB works like mine it will take about 5 minutes to get there

  • Why don't you use 'favourites' instead of 'now/next'? You can jump up/down with page up/down.
  • You only have to re-order you channels once so its worth the investment in time.

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

Thanks monkeybreath, I have almost every channel on ntl and i watch a lot of them so i don't bother organising the favourites.

It still takes longer with favourites than it did before with page up/down and you can't actually see what's on when you scroll through the channels. You have to press the "right" button and then wait about two seconds for the program list to appear then "left" to go back on to the channel list and do that for every channel when you just want to see quickly what's on a couple of channels. Very poor.

I agree. Although the favourites "browser" thingy is a nice extra feature, it is nowhere near a replacement for the speed and convenience that the old mini-guide had. It desperately needs the old page-up/down and the quick jump button to the first channel.

Sometimes I just put up with whatever programmes I tend to directly go to on the few channels numbers I can remember simply because I can't be bothered to have a browse on this sometimes tiresome new system anymore.
Shame really.

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

I have had the new software for a couple of days now.
Speed is not much of a problem for me, because it works a hell of a lot faster than the old software in my opinion/machine.

The only gripe I have at the moment is that you can't flick through the channels with a smaller menu, for example, I want to check the next channel out so i press the channel up button, all i need is a menu with what is on now not next.
if I want to check out what is next then I can use the arrow button to get the mini guide.

One other small thing, the blue is nice, the black & aqua is horrible, could other colours be included, to make it your unique colour system?????

Q: Is there any difference from RGB and Composite? I don't see any difference.
Q: Can you change the time look from 22.30 to 10.30? I find this would be easier for everyone, unless you were in the military!

thats all just now.

Because as Graeme says, it takes longer and it takes up too much of the screen especially if you're watching a widescreen programme.

I did spend over an hour rearranging the order of the channels, but there must be a quicker method which could have been implemented as part of the software. Also, could they not as a default have moved all of the +1 channels to the 'correct' place?

I am extremely disappointed with the service now given by this 'update'. Apparently there is no fix for slow channel browsing/operation What I don't understand is that while the speed of the box, for the most part, is bearable, there appear to be times when it grinds to a halt and this has happened on the last two Thursday evenings. Last night I had to watch just one channel as trying to change to another was more than my frayed nerves could take.
