Community Channel Launched
The Local Channel shows the Community Channel until 4pm. The Community Channel is better than the Local Channel. The Community Channel shows professional programmes, unlike the Local Channel. The Local Channel is shown from 4pm throughout the night, and the Community Channel is shown during the daytime. The Community Channel can be viewed on the Local Channel on channel number 14.

Re: Community Channel Launched
The Community Channel is available on Freeview, Sky and NTL. I don't think Telewest recieve the Community Channel. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I noticed that the Community Channel broadcasts on the Local Channel today, so I think it launched yesterday or today. The EPG says that the Local Channel programmes will be shown from 4pm today, but I don't know whether the EPG is showing the correct programme information.

Re: Community Channel Launched
The Community Channel is now broadcasting between the hours of 10am and 4pm on the Local Channel, which is only available on the Bromley platform so is not available to all Digital viewers. It's been there a couple of weeks or so I think, I can't remember the exact date that we added it.
There is still other Local channel content shown outside of these hours.

Re: Community Channel Launched
Sam, why is the Local Channel not 'local'.
All it ever seems to show are bizarre programs from places such as Yorkshire and coverage of obscure - although often interesting - music festivals.
I have no real problem with what it shows, but was just wondering why this sort of thing is shown on a supposedly local channel.
Cheers,
Browneggsandham

Re: Community Channel Launched
Hi All,
not that it matters much in this case. Why is it that the two platforms are still working seperately. After it being said that everything will work on both platforms things are still being done seperately.
Regards, George.

Re: Community Channel Launched
Shouldn't local/community channels be something like public access cable in the US? There must be thousands of media students out there who'd love to make TV programs to be shown in just the local area. Would improve ntl's PR too as it'd be known as the friendly local cable op where local people can make local programming..

Re: Community Channel Launched
The Local Channel is actually just a historical name for it as it is actually just a single channel feed. It's only available on the Bromley platform again purely for historic reasons. We broadly have an identical digital Tv line-up on the two platforms, but this is one of the few anomalies.

Re: Community Channel Launched
Will this be launching on Langley?
And is there a reason that freeview only shows the community channel at stupid times during the night?

Re: Community Channel Launched
As there is no space left on freeview or space that would be used for the Community channel and probably wouldnt be able to afford to broadcast the channel on freeview 24/7. So they broadcast in the downtime of BBC3/4 and CBBC/Cbeebies which is round about from 2 to 5am.
