That's more like it

I have looked at other 'Tweak' sites (some of which actually make things worse!), but dslreports seems to be the most respected.

May I join this thread to seek help in re-establishing my Email function please?
I last received Email through my MS Outlook 2000 account on June 6th. at around the time that the NTL servers went down. Ever since I've been relying on webmail but it's crude and a pain to use.
Each time I try to download mail in Outlook I get an error message 0x800 40600 which apparently means that my user name and password are not being recognised. When I look at the 'correct connect' feature I get confirmation that my Email is not working due to incorrect user name and password. I have re-traced my steps through the account setup and examined all the parameters in the 'tools' menu, but with no results.
I have spoken to Swansea and got through immediately to someone who was incredibly helpful and talked me through all my settings, confirming that all appeared to be good. He also confirmed that my inbox on the server had loads of messages from around the date of failure.
Question is: if I can access my webmail using my regular username and password, why can't I get into Outlook?
Incidentally the guy in Swansea said that they no longer support Outlook, only Outlook Express. He has since sent me some links to MS help sites but They aren't helping me through this because everything seems to check out.
I have 600k broadband with the NTL:Home 100 silver modem. Everything else is working very well except the Outlook Email which I have now been without for getting on for 5 weeks.
Does anyone have any ideas please?

Some of my email accounts have been like that yet work on webmail! Though not for 5wks. Its down to NTL as always, one day they may get this sorted but it has been ongoing for such a long time now.

The only thing I can think of is to set another account up and fwd your messages.
