Re: test drive

Mazda 3, but only because I have a friend working at a Mazda dealer. Very nice little car if you're into that.

Are you buying? Salesmen have like lights in their head go green when you look uncertain and ask to test-drive. And when they ask how much you want to spend, don't tell them...

Re: test drive

Tried a Merc 140 a couple of days ago (the Mrs wants one). Handles well and foklks say it "runs on fresh air" but personally I dislike the shape and think it is a bit small. Colour range is drab/ awful but will be buying second hand so colour is Hobson's choice. Prefer the Yaris myself.

didn't dare try the 'Type R', I knew I'd like it too much - it is group 17 insurance :yikes:

the salesman deliberately got us to 'clog it' in 3rd gear to demonstrate the vtec effect - cut in about 4500 rpm, very impressive

- unfortunately my wife was more keen on the Jazz, which from a financial & practical point of view, probably makes sense.

Yeah - but you only live once!!! Go for it - and test drive on your own!! I do now - not that I want to buy anything atm - it's just nice to have a go on other cars! I did drive a new Freelander a couple of weekends ago - my nephew is a Land Rover salesman - but his dealership also does Lotus and TVR - I have reminded him to bring Auntie something really nice to drive next time!

maybe something that is your 'namesake', eh Chimaera - though I wouldn't mind a go in an Elise, maybe not as meaty as a TVR, but I'd like to experience the handling in the Lotus
