STB annoyances

I have a 4000N STB and it's been playing around since I had it installed in December. I have to reboot once a day as I keep losing the EPG ('No Schedule Available') Sometimes going into interactive brings back the schedule and sometimes not.

Secondly, every now and then the remote and controls on the front of the STB don't work. I get picture and BB access but no response from the controls bringing on another reboot.

Thirdly, I get the odd 'Exception Reboot' which always happens when something interesting is on!

Finally, about once a week I get a 'Mute Card' message come up on screen which doesn't affect anything but is a bit concerning. On pressing the Up Down and Blue it says something like 'Driver but card can't talk to it'.

None of these things are fatal but a bit annoying. Do you reckon it's a duff box or a network problem? I had a model 2000 box where i used to live a 100 yeards up the road and it was totally fine for 2 years.

Re: STB annoyances

Hi Jon, Welcome to the site.

It certainly sounds to me like you have a 'duff box', I would suggest you contact faults (0800 052 2000) to report these issues you are having with it.

Red face Re: STB annoyances

Jon, I share most of these problems.

The 'No Schedule Data Available' notice is on about 30% of the time.

Every time I press a remote control button, I have to wait for about 4 seconds for a response, and 20% of the time there's no response at all.

Most of the time, my broadband works fine.

Re: STB annoyances

Sounds like normal Di4000 software bugs to me.
You may also blank pics needing a reboot and the favourite channels jumbling themselves up from time to time.
Waiting for the stb to respond will sometimes prevent the stb locking up.

I would wait till the end of May when the software download is expected before booking a tech.
By the way you can press 'vol-' and 'vol+' and 'services' together to reboot the set top box.

Re: STB annoyances

I get the EPG problem on my 2000 box, generally a reboot will cure it - I put it down to it all being a part of NTL's wonderful service

Re: STB annoyances

i get the remote problem on my 1000 STB as well. I get the picture ok but the STB has basically locked up and all three lights are on. I can't change any channels and have to disconnect the power and plug back in. Usually my BB fails when this happens as well, although that can go down every few days meaning i have to pull the power from STB as well.

Can anyone remember the remote buttons for rebooting on a 1000 ?
