Question Using splitter on NTL digital

Hi. Sorry if this has been discussed in depth but I could not find it on any of the other threads.

I have NTL (Brighton) with a pace box (green remote) and have been reading the forum on installing a splitter, as there is not one in my flat. I went to Maplins and bought the splitter (they had no 2 way so bought 4 way) as has been outlined here. However as soon as I installed it the broadband modem started flashing and then disappeared. I'd used some left over f cable with the correct ends I found in the flat. Do I need to use special cable from the splitter to the Digibox .

I spoke to NTL engineer via phone and he said that he did not think there was a normal terrestrial feed on the digital cable as well as all the "we don't condone it" stuff as well.

Any help appreciated

Re: Using splitter on NTL digital

Four way splitter gives at least 6dB less signal getting to your box. If the unused ports are unterminated then there will also be reflected signals causing interference.

Re: Using splitter on NTL digital

Thanks. Had a look at the other thread but does not share my problem with broadband. How would I terminate each thread?
