Clarification needed on reporting spam to ntl

As today seems to be my day for looking through the ntlworld site, I took a look at their Abuse of Service page, specifically on how to report spam. The relevant text is copied below.

How To Report Abuse Of Service

<Snip>

Reporting Email Abuse

Email abuse takes many forms, for example: unsolicited commercial email, unsolicited bulk email, mail bombs, email harassment, email containing abusive or offensive content.
The format for submitting reports to the abuse department regarding abuse of email is always the same whatever the offence. <Snip>

I have 2 questions:

1) Does the above mean that I can report any and all spam that I receive, whatever its source, to ntl?

2) More importantly, is it worth the trouble? Do ntl do anything about it, is any such activity on their part likely to be successful and do they report the results back to you?

If you report spam to ntl that does not come from an ntl customer there is not much they can do.

Best to report it somewhere like spamcop www.spamcop.net

Can they not filter out obvious spam that is reported? I get around a dozen emails a day regarding "Casino Bonus" all with different times and dates, some a few days in the future.

It's certainly possible, but the installation of spam filtration is always a tricky one - I think they're focusing on getting the actual servers *working* first before tinkering with extra software!

Re: Clarification needed on reporting spam to ntl

ntl's spam software relies on the spamhaus organisation http://www.spamhaus.org/ - report it to them and that will should result in it being clocked on ntl's servers. however, as seaneeboy said there is still upgrade work going on with ntl's servers so it may take a while.
