Sorry but i agree NTL are money grabers,,,Their dont mind taking the money but when it comes to sorting this out then its another story..NTl says its service is cheap..Yea..Like hell ..4 years as a customer and one more mmonth before i finish with ntl..Story..No Television for six weeks because picture freezes and channels dont come up half the time when you use the remote control..We had 2 set top boxes..The first one lasted 4 yaers before it went dead..The 2nd one and a fault..The 3rd one does not work very well..We had 3 call outs so far abd apart from the last call out..Not one signal guy knew what he was talking about..The 3rd guy said it may be the cable underneath the ground that needs to be looked at..THe cable guy i could not find fault with has he was very helpful and very understanding...But to me the problem i think it is is yje set top box..So why in God dont their just replace the box if its a fault..As for the Boardband which i have one word crab ..Nothing but problems trying to get into your emails...Slow connnecton, even though we have 600....It more like 56k dail up..For the tv i want ot get Preview..30 free channels...And go back to bt..Sorry i pay like everyone else about £100... .which is a lot..My friend has sky and sayd he gets value for what he pays for..THe customer service is so poor i wont even go there and yes i do work in customer service and we have a motto to give 100% to our customers..Use to have to wait about 45minutes to 1 hour to get thru..Since i kicked off on one it takes no more than a few minutes so that side has improved..Julain

Sorry but I agree with rus 100% - You must not break the law...
Aprt from anything else you will be playing into the hand of NTL. They can then take action against you. Dont get me wrong I am NOOO NTL lover but this is not the way to do it...

Re: personal hell
As Russ and Stuart have said if you start doing illegal things against you then ntl will come down on you like a ton of bricks.
If there's one thing ntl is good at, it's prosecuting people.
Perhaps they should of actually gone into law instead of communications?

Very true Asdf.......
Play NTL's game in the correct way... If you do something that breaks the t's and c's they are entitled to disconect you without notice !
Send them a letter via registered post. If you do have to take this to small claims court then you need to show that you have been " resonable "

My journey with NTL began about 10 years ago when they were promoting their service in our area. We signed up for telephone service and were impressed with the costs of course.
when installing the phone they said although we were not having the tv service they would prepare it anyway so we were not using arial and watching via cable, so would be ready to go if we ever wanted it.
The first thing that went wrong was we were edging the front lawn one Sunday and cut through the cable which they had placed aprox. 2 inches into the ground.
Thats when we first discovered how great their customer service was! 3 days, more or less constantly in a public phone box, and one week later we managed to get a call to re lay the cable.
The next event was when I had just come out of hospital after an op. and was concerned about being without a phone- and sod's law it broke down. Another week without!
Next thing, you will like this one, One Saturday evening we were relaxing and watching TV when it just went completely into a snow storm with no sound.
I had heard NTL were working in the area-could this be a connection?? or am I just being cynical??
I called customer service after a couple of hours on the phone - yes they admitted it was. The coversation went a little like this ( I have left out my bad language)
So when can I have a service call then?
'BUT YOU DON'T HAVE OUR TV SERVICE'
'I know but your engineer connected it to the cable in stead of the arial'
'But you don't have our TV service so we wont send an engineer out'
.......
2 days later the TV returned to normal, but they had disconnected the phone!!!!!!!!
Next thing, am I mad or what? I thought I would go for NTL Broadband.
To cut a veeery long story short- we eventually got a modem that was working (3rd try) but connection speed about snail like. My efforts to set up a direct debit took 12 months and about £50 worth of phone calls.
I moved house in November and although I was told NTL Broadband was available in my new area, they then decided it wasn't, so I went to BT where I have been happy ever since...except.....I am still getting bills from NTL and this morning instead of a Valentine, I got a threatening letter saying my credit rating may be affected if I do not pay a bill for their service 2 months after it had been disconnected!!!

You will find the grass can be very much greener on the other side m8. I have had enough of NTL after the amount of crap I have had to deal with from them.

Re: personal hell
I would like to reiterate that there are many who still enjoy a reasonable service from NTL, and haven't had too much trouble.
No matter, taking the Law into your own hands, will not actually achieve anything but more trouble for yourself.
You have to follow any grievance procedure you can, without resorting to illegal practices, and I know NTL may not be the best at CS, but their legal dept will be rubbing their hands with glee if they come up against people willing to compromise the contract they signed.
