So where the hell is Red Dwarf? BAH!
Guess it will have to be Blackadder then.

Should have been in the top ten, with Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights.

Re: Britains Top Sitcom
I voted Fawlty Towers mainly because it maintained the very high standard throughout all episodes. Its hard to judge though, Only Fools and Horses has definately given me more laughs than Fawtly Towers but I guess Only Fools gets devalued because of it going downhill.
I was abit annoyed Phoenix Nights and The Office didn't fair higher as I do think they are genuine classics which are up there in the top 5 comedy's of all time, if not the best. I spose it takes time for programs to filter down to everyone though and to get established as classics. My dad still refuses to watch The Office or Phoenix Nights because he doesn't like that sort of stuff, even although he's never watched it.

Re: Britains Top Sitcom
This is a series on the BBC, anyone else notice that all of the top 10 sitcoms also happen to be BBC shows? I wonder if they had to "rig" it to some degree to avoid having the hassle to getting rights for shows that were originally on other channels.

Re: Britains Top Sitcom
Anyone else suddenly realise that the sitcom output of British TV these days is just dire?? It takes a program or poll like this to make us realise just how good the programming used to be on our telly
I'm with Coggy on Red Dwarf but for longevity of humour and great casting Only Fools and Horses is my choice

Fawlty Towers. John Cleese is my lord and master. Actually, all the Monty Python lot are my masters. I salute them all. (I went to school down the same road as the late, great Graham Chapman lived!!)
