Spam filter

For a year I've been free of spam, but lately I get about 200 a day and its beginning to hack me off to say the least.

I use Outlook, and I can block the sender - but the email still download. What I'd like to do is configure it so that these emails don't get downloaded from the ntl server.

Possible?

Re: Spam filter

I think spampal will still download the message and then flag it. I think mailwasher is what you need. It will still download the first part of the message though (it needs to get at least some of the message in order to identify it) You have to pay for it but in my opinion (used it for over a year) it's worth it!

Re: Spam filter

Mailwasher gets my vote too, had it for ages, and its extremely easy to customize to the nth degree.

Re: Spam filter

Or use an ISP that wants to rid their servers of it.

Spam filtering announcement

This is advance notice of an important and undoubtedly widely welcomed change to the Demon email service. We believe that we will shortly be able to offer an effective solution to the problem of filtering junk email (spam) that will not compromise the high standard of services that we offer our customers.

As we indicated earlier in the year, we have been continuing to assess the spam-fighting solutions that are available. We have now chosen to implement a server side solution (where the spam is removed on the Demon email servers before it reaches customers) by partnering with Brightmail.

http://www.brightmail.com

Brightmail filtering has an extremely impressive accuracy rate and is a world leader in anti-spam technology.

This new service will be available to most Demon customers free of charge and we will be writing to all customers individually to notify them of this change in our service.

There is an FAQ on this new facility on our web site at:

http://www.demon.net/helpdesk/faq/spamfiltering.shtml

Customers will be subscribed to the service by default, however individual customers will be able to opt out of the service at any time should they wish. The ability to opt out can be found on the WebPassword page of the Demon web site:

http://www.demon.net/webpassword/

The service will be introduced early in 2004 and notification of availability will be made by an announcement at that time. A full explanation of the service will be made available soon, we ask that you do not contact our Customer Support Centre as they do not have additional details relating to this service at this time.
