Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
Voted LD as well but I'd be amazed if our man ousted the sitting Tory. The only hope is people remember the expenses as we are a mere 40 min train/walk from Westminster and yet the MP claims for a second home in Chiswick!
The other hope is that even if LD only get ~100 seats with 25%+ of the vote, they will be able to bargain with a stronger third (or second) party mandate.

I think LD are predicted to get between 60 and 80 seats.

Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
For me there is no such thing as a wasted vote every vote is worth something whatever it results in in terms of mp's. Just because we have the so called big three doesn't mean they should automatically get a vote although i did vote for one of them. In a democracy surely we have learnt to value the right of the individual to vote as they feel free too and if we don't then are we really a democracy. For some maybe voting for some party other then a big three is a way of protesting without spoiling their vote or just not going to vote which seems more productive then spoiling or not voting.
As for should voting be compulsory no i do not think it should as that is another part of the whole democracy thing you have the right to vote and you have the right to not vote if that is what you want to do. I would maybe back a system they have in some countrys where those who do vote get something for doing it but no no one should ever be forced to vote.

Well done. That's a good start to avoid sounding like someone from the Women's Institute, keep it up.

Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
I find the answers even more bizarre
Quote:
"Pyjamas are fine, provided they're not indecent. And so is a builder who's stripped to the waist. We want people to vote, we don't want to turn people away," he says. But a line does have to be drawn somewhere, he says. "A topless woman wouldn't be appropriate as voters might get distracted."
|
A friend has just pointed out that's discriminatory.

There's an election?
Suppose I should throw my son in his buggy and go and vote, might bring a crayon and see what he picks.

A vote for the Lib Dems is a vote taken from Labour and puts the Tories in no 10.
IMHO a Lib Dem (or any other party) vote is a wasted vote.
