No, you can't. You are on a Birkenhead UBR.

Again reading on another fourm i have seen people sharing software disabling bpi+ (don't know what this is but seems to be VM's Security software)

Broadbandings you seem to know a lot about this stuff?!? your thoughts :/
Spoke to a Virgin Rep today, and they said they can easily see anyone who is on the Docsis 1 networking using a 50mb config file and the fraud team are working with the police on this matter.

Having a 10mb or 20mb config is a lot easier to get away with but 50mb sticks out like sore thumb.

Re: 50Mb areas

pay for 10 meg and put your modem to recieve 50? then when you get caught get ur net taken away and legal action... not very cleaver. if you want the faster connection then pay for it... i mean the people who do that whoever they may be.

i thought the docsis couldent handle 50mbit?

And it's about as much use as a chocolate fireguard being able to see this unless the person doing it is extremely stupid sadly.

If Virgin were really that up on it we'd have seen posts and news about people being arrested / complaining about being cut off all over the net - we don't.

Why is VM's network so hackable you never hear of these problems on BT or Sky.

I hope they do i sure these free loaders are adding to the slow network speeds we get now and again. I presume they are only a small % but Every little byte helps.

The reason you cant hack BT and SKY is they are ADSL and its your phone line that is activated aswell as your modem. VM send the same signal to every house so its only the modem that needs activating so to speak

Re: 50Mb areas

I just wondered if anyone could help me, we currently have XL broadband, XL phone and XL TV and we pay £60 a month for this. I signed up online for the 50mb and my router has come today but i still dont know what extra they are going to charge. I cant call VM and check myself as the account isn't in my name and the account holder is away for a few days, basically i just wondered if anyone would have a rough idea as to what they should be charging me on top of the £60?

Yeah thats what i thought, just hoping it might be a little less since they are offering it at the same price as XL broadband if you have a phone line as well

They aren't though. XL Broadband with a phoneline is £31 - XXL with a phoneline is £46
