I thought all ticket office staff were multilingual. They're renowned for their linguistic skills you know...
Anyway whenever we use the tube the one place you don't see many people is queueing up at the ticket office. I wonder why...

You'd think. It doesn't always work that way.. It's a national rail rather than underground station, but Lewisham station is fully staffed from the time the first train runs until the last train leaves, yet you'd be surprised how quickly the staff vanish when they see a passenger wanting help.

I hope the Unions go full leather in an attempt to stop this from happening. You also have to look at the staffing situations on the tube. I work near Hanger Lane, which is a busy station during the day and could get even busier at weekends, as it is a near Wembley Stadium.
I can imagine many women may be scared to use as a means to get home. Yes, we have CCTV, but this will NOT STOP the crime taking place.
No bad move to me. I can see Bob Crow this morning on his soap box, and he WILL defend his members. Yes, everything now is electronic, but to me its a bad decision for Boris and Tfl.

So, Arthur. Let's take Tottenham Court Road as an example. How is having a few blokes sitting in the ticket office going to help some poor hapless soul who is being mugged on the Northern line? After all, by the time they've noticed the problem, come out from the office and gone down two escalators, the mugger has probably hopped on a train and is well on the way to escaping.
This way, if the changes are implemented as TFL have said (and I realise this is by no means certain), those staff will be nearer in the event of an emergency.

Do they have to be multilingual, if have thought it easier for someone to say south Kensington rather than read it and if your right why bother with the six "special" stations and when I travel of peak once a month on a Saturday I have to use ticket machines as the queue is to long for the office usually.

He cares about his members like Scargill and Red Robbo did and the result will be the same...

The manned booths at the popular London underground stations are quite busy. They don't know what they want so they go ask for help.

and, 750 positions gone can't lead to anything other than a dramatic drop in service, it's so obvious they didn't need to say it.

That's why they keep voting him back in and membership of the union keeps growing because he doesn't care about the members

Yes, he became general secretary with 12,000 votes out of 57,000 members. A thumping endorsement indeed.

Better percentage than most politicians get yet they don't seem to fussed.

No, they're not. And neither is Bob Crow. But in both cases, the electorate seems to have other ideas.
