JD is only partially right. The war itself didn’t help, but it was the consequences of it, which was the real problem. But I also think that a lot of Americans took a good hard look at just what was going on in Washington, the incompetence, the corruption, the mega-rich (including Trump) getting ever richer, the feeling that ordinary Americans don’t count and a President more concerned about his own personal aggrandisement, and sticking his name on everything he can than looking after the interests of the people.
I think that a lot of Americans saw this and decided, ‘no’, this is not us, this is not how the USA is supposed to be. And voted accordingly.
